After launch the Oppo N3 and Oppo N5 you might think it could be a while before we hear rumour of a new phone from them, but this is the Chinese phone industry, and hear are the spy specs for the mystery Oppo U3.
Right of the bat, the name of this mystery new phone tells us that this is going to be a mid-range phone, probable with a Mediatek processor. The ‘U’ range of phones from Oppo are normally powered by the Taiwanese SOC, and are usually only launched in China and certain Asian markets as an affordable alternative to their flagship range.
These specifications come from GFX Bench where the U3 was spied. The details show us that the phone will be a more compact model with 2GB RAM, 5 mega-pixel front camera and 13 mega-pixel rear plus Android 4.4.4 Kitkat.
As we guessed the processor is listed as a Mediatek MT6572 which is the companies octacore 64bit chip. This version of the SoC running at 1.7Ghz with a Mali T760 GPU and also means LTE support. One detail which does strike us though is the memory listed at only 1.1GB. Surely with so little on board storage this phone is only a test mule, or are we looking at another ultra thin Oppo with strange a ridiculous compromise? (i.e. Oppo R5 with no 3.5mm head phone jack).
Sounds really strange to have only 1.1 GB dedicated to storage, either the OS occupies the entire capacity or it is simply a testing unit and it will be expanded with the real phone once it gets the license and all that.
Affordable means 400$.
Never buy oppo, once they have your $500 they will forget about you! It comes with android 4.4.4 while other oems with similar price range is getting android L! #DoNotBuyOPPO
