Elephone announce some updates to their services and mention that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be available as soon as possible.
If you are new to Android phones, and are not quite comfortable updating your phone through complex methods then OTA is a feature you will look at when buying a device. OTA (over the air) basically allows you to update your phones system by simply hitting update and letting the phone do its thing.
The function if found on many high-end phones and big brand companies and we are now seeing smaller brands also offer the feature.
Gizchina News of the week
Elephant have announced that they too will be release OTA updates for phones, although which models is not confirmed, so that the update process can be streamlined and simplified. The second piece of good news is that Elephone have confirmed that they are just waiting on Mediatek so that they can begin work on the Android 5.0 Lollipop update we have all been waiting for.

Andi in terms of build quality what are there phones similar to ? I have a z5s mini and its bomb proof! Reason I ask is I’m interested in p4000 for a gift for someone.
Thanks
The P4000 is meant to be a major step for them. I’m going to get one later this month so keep posted.
Hi Andi, I too am very interested in getting 1 or 2 as gifts for Christmas… (cutting it a bit fine now…) Any news on the release date and pricing yet?
Guessing that it still doesn’t have any kind of protection for the screen though?
If the p4000 is twice as good as the P2000, it is still absolute crap.
High specs, but no support from Elephone at all. Really the worst company I know when it comes to support and updates. After 4 months, still users have problems with wifi, dual sim, camera, gps and battery drain. No updates, despite many promises, and no support.
I would not consider it even for myself…so no way I would give it as gift (unless I really really disliked that person 🙂
