Ecommerce sites in China have posted a mysterious presale device that coinsides with the 19th November launch date of the Meizu MX4 Pro.
In 9 days we will finally get to see the Meizu’s 2014 flagship device, but today it appears the retail price and presale launch date have already been confirmed! Chinese E-commerce giant, JingDong, have already posted that a mystery new smartphone will be available for pre-order on the 19th November, a phone that will cost 3199 Yuan.
Sure this could be any device from any company, but we believe it is going to be the Meizu MX4 Pro as Meizu VP, Li Nan, also decided to share the news on his Weibo account as well as the official Meizu weibo.
The rumoured specifications of the Meizu MX4 Pro include an octacore Samsung Exynos processor, 5.5-inch 2K display, 3GB RAM and a 20.7 mega-pixel Sony rear sensor. The phone will run Flyme 4.0 but rumours also suggest a Lollipop update and possibly even Ubuntu will be available from launch too!
If this price proves to be correct, then for international buyers, especially after import tariffs, the Pro would cost more than the new Nexus 6.
Great specs aside, with a phone priced this high, how does Meizu expect to gain market share especially against the likes of Xiaomi?
Meizu does build solid phones but I’m in the U.S. and there are a lot of phones available here in that price range. For example, the Nexus 6 is $649 and has some of the best specs around. If I had to make a choice between the Nexus 6 and the MX 4 Pro, the Nexus 6 would be a no brainer.
I can show you many more saying very good words about this phone and other that say the opposite. In my opinion, it all comes down to personal opinion of the guy doing the review. Some things are for a fact though : it’s a good spec phone with not the high price some well-known brands have and the performance on this phone , on real time usage, seems to be on par with these flagships..
Btw check the reviews these guys did on this site and maybe you’ll reconsider. /cheers 🙂
Because Meizu isnt wanting to pit their Mx4 Pro against Xiaomi Mi4 when Mx4 already does that ? And they instead bringing Mx4 pro against the likes of Note 4, Iphone Plus, Nexus 6, Mate 7 ?
Its pretty understandable an a good move in my view. If mx4 pro was just a small increase in pricing then nobody would even buy the Mx4.
