OnePlus have finally launched the One for the Indian market. True to what they’re known for, the device was launched for 21,999 INR, or roughly US$355, in the country.
Speculations and rumours were rife before launch, suggesting a 25,000 INR price tag for the 64Gb version. 21,999 INR is extremely aggressive pricing on OnePlus’, and is bound to attract lots of attention, and consequently, demand. The OnePlus One was announced in April this year, starting at US$299 for the 16GB version while the 64GB version was announced for US$349. India is the first market besides China where OnePlus will have local presence, and considering that, 21,999 INR is much lower than many would’ve expected.
As you might already know, the One will be an Amazon India exclusive. You’ll also be required to have an invite (of the India-only type) to be able to purchase the phone. The device itself comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 SoC, 3GB RAM, a 13 mega-pixel main camera, 16/64GB storage and supports 4G LTE networks.
OnePlus had announced a couple of days back that the One would not be receiving software updates from CyanogenMod in India because of the software company getting into an exclusive deal with Micromax. OnePlus also added that the company was working on its own system, the first build of which would be ready by mid-December.
