Zopo’s new phone will have a 64bit processor

Like most of China’s top phone makers, Zopo is prepping to begin the new year with a new phone with a 64bit chip.

At GizChina we are really excited about what Chinese phone makers have lined up for next year and it is all down to lower component costs and the introduction of Mediatek’s affordable 64bit chipsets.

So far, Meizu, Elephone, iOcean, JiaYu plus many others have either confirmed or are rumoured to be launching phones packing 64bit chips ranging from entry-level to flagship.

Zopo are also now part of that group with a teaser confirming today that they will to launch a 64bit phone this December. The still unamed Zopo phone has been teased as a camera-centric device in the past and we have even had a brief glimpse of the device here.

There is a lot riding on the latest Zopo phone, this past year hasn’t been good for the company, with slipping international interest and new rivals to compete with. Do Zopo have what it takes to make a come back?

If Zopo sell it over 220U$, being crazy like the Zopo 999, I’ll go with Elephone P6000, or the Jiayu S3.

  The competition is enormous in China, besides the phones you have mentioned, Xiaomi (update of the redmi series) and Meizu (the same Mediatek chipset as Jiayu S3) will release a budget phone for a low price very soon.

I can’t wait for 64bit processors to take over the market and see some serious power with much RAM in phones. Whether we like it or not, smartphones have become more important than even our pc’s in some cases so I’m happy to see this technology to come to mobiles.
Now about Zopo what can I say… I’m still a newbie in Chinese market, need to check more about these not so well-known companies (not in general, just for me not well-known) since I only know more stuff about companies like Meizu, Xiaomi and some more 🙂

  All these phones with 64 bit mean nothing without Android 5. Happy to be surprised however I don’t see any Chinese manufacturers using this let alone optimizing 64 but before the big payers

All the makers will do this:
a. cripple as much as possible from cpu,soc true functions and still sell it with exagerated price !
ex: MT6595 from MEIZU is way way too much crippled, his functions superseed the exynos pro, but MEIZU has opted for raw performance and deep crippled with 50% from the true power (FUNCTiONS) of MT6595.
b. 64 bit cpu’s,soc’s will be need for them like from 2018,2019 when the apps will require to access more than 4GB (per app)
ex: today’s 32 bit aarch can do that too but at maximum of 4 GB per app, so 64bit is just marketing, and beside that the only OS that could take advantage of 64 bit aarch is Android 5.0 aka Lollipop, kitkat is not to go with 64 bit aarch.
another OS that will rock will be UNBUTU.
c. remain to see if phone makers will software update their devices with (beside promises) firmware, rom for fixing errors from early sell’s, and for how long in terms of OS version.
d. the MT6595 at 2.2 GHz is competing with aarch 64 bit armv8 qualcomm 810 !
ex: in KitKat yes but once lollipop appeared the qualcomm 810 will have a few more things to say, also depends if the CODE,cOdE will be optimized as it should be.

Would love to see android 5.0 out of the box …this will keep the phone
up for the competition as they are ready to ship for international
markets..most Chinese manufacturers are still stuck with older 4.3 with topping of their own GUI…though most manufacturers are shipping 4.4 now but with 64 bit soc available to
manufacturers we expect android 5.0 to be the norm for 2015 smart phones
