Chinese SoC maker Allwinner have been showing off an Android TV based on their own octacore processor running the latest Android 5.0 OS.
Allwinner specialise in making powerful processors for tablets and Android TV boxes. The two main chips in the Allwinner line up are the quad-core A33 and powerful ocatcore Allwinner A80.
The A80 was recently demoed in an Android TV box running Android 5.0 Lollipop, great news for fans of powerful Android TV boxes and also those of you who are running an Allwinner A80 in their tablet as a Lollipop update cannot be too far away.
Currently Allwinner chips donβt support network connection, but it will be interesting to keep an eye on the Chinese chip maker to see what they have in store for 2015.

“Does not support network connections”. I guess this means Ethernet? It can’t be that WiFi does not work either π
More likely to be Mobile network connections i.e. GSM, WCDMA, 3G, 4G LTE….
I’m pretty sure they support both RJ45 Ethernet connections and WiFi…
