It’s time to get some Lollipop on your Xiaomi Mi3 with the release of a Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM for Xiaomi’s previous flagship device.
Even by today’s standards the Xiaomi Mi3 has a killer specification that includes a powerful Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM and decent 5-inch 1080 display. With hardware like that, and an active fan base it was only a matter of time before Android 5.0 became available for the phone.
The ROM is available for the Mi3W, which is the WCDMA version of the phone, and the handset international owners should have in their hand. If you are feeling brave and want to test out the ROM then there are links to to the download at the end of the post, but be aware that not all features are working correctly.
As this is a beta ROM from a 3rd party source there are bound to be some issues and this is the case with NFC not currently supported, the ROM suffering random reboots, and the in ability to save record videos.
If you want to have a go at installing the ROM at your own risk you can download Android 5.0 for the Xiaomi Mi3 here, using this password: rmrd.
Very interesting. I would test it, but the device I have is my son’s, so I’d rather wait for more stable versions. There is a thread on XDA.
this rom that is for download is not stock android 5.0 for the mi3 but a new android 4.4 release of MIUI 6.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD! WASTE OF TIME!
You obviously don’t know what your talking about I’m running the ROM right now and I can assure you it’s lollipop 5.0 and has the bugs listed above along with a couple smaller bugs that intermittently happen but it is bearable for use as it’s a beta so nobody is expecting perfection yet. The rom seems quite fast compared to kitkat however the frame rate at which 3d graphics are displayed runs much lower than kitkat. Also benchmarks on antutu are also much lower about 8k lower to be honest. This however does not seem make me want to turn me back to kitkat in any way seems how I can play farcry 4 on PlayStation remote at 720p resolution with absolutely no lag in either audio or video and while watching Hulu through remote play I’ve only encountered a couple times for a couple seconds which it had a minimal video lag blur and I believe that was either the Wi-Fi signal strength loss or cross interference from another 5ghz signal. All in all great work Ivan looking forward to seeing your finalized product along with an update from lollipop as well seeing how nexus users with lollipop ota updates are experiencing a number of bugs themselves. Once again thanks for your hard work Ivan it’s truly appreciated through out the aosp community and don’t let Dick’s like this get you down.
