Slimmer Snapdragon 410 Xiaomi Redmi arrives at TENAA,

TENAA have just posted details of a new Xiaomi device, that could eventually become the Xiaomi Redmi 2. Keep reading for full details.

As you should all know by now, each phone that hopes to go on sale in China must first get network approval from TENAA, and this has become a hotbed for interesting leaks like the one we have here.

Seen today is a new Xiaomi phone simply called 2014811, that looks very much like the current Xiaomi Redmi 1s. In fact this new device has the same size 4.7-inch display with the same HD 720p resolution and even runs a 1.2Ghz Snapdragon 410 64bit processor offering LTE (which was also offered in current Redmi phones) with just 1GB RAM.

The only differences we can see from the specifications are the fact that this Redmi will come in a range of colours including red, orange, green, yellow, blue and purple measuring in at 134 x 67.21 x 9.2mm rather than the current phones 137 x 69 x 9.9mm.

Pricing won’t have changed much compared to the current Redmi so expect the phone to cost around 699 Yuan in China and about $150 through resellers.

Snapdragon 410 is a joke, for the first time i could say, the MTK6752 will blown away this crap!

  This phone isn’t meant for power users, it’s meant for people who do the very basics (Facebook, light gaming, selfies etc). The 410 is perfect for that.

    But being sold for the same price of the competition solution? Still a good choice? The problem is not the processor, but the price, you got a really better thing this time, in that price range, with Mediatek.

This is supposed 9.2 incher cheap tablet.
They replicated Redmi Note’s design, unfortunately both of them ugly.
Specs isn’t good enough, behind from competition IMO. This one’s price should be lower, otherwise it will see hard times to sell.

I can’t understand Xiaomi’s strategy here, IMO they are killing their reputation in the market by releasing poor specs phones like this one. I thought that they will release a Redmi 2 with Snapdragon 615, 2GB Ram, at least a 2800mAh replaceable battery and a screen size of 4,7 to 5 inch.

  Xiaomi’s strategy is to move as many units as possible,especially in developing markets. The people they are marketing the Redmi 1s to don’t really know the difference between a 615 and 410, they use the phone for Facebook, Line and Candy Crush. You have to realize power uses like most of the people on this site, represent a very very small percentage of the overall users of smart phones.

people dont understand one fact here… XIaomi is serving the chinese market mainly. here, a “poor” spec phone is what the majority of people can afford especially in rural areas which nearly make up 800 million people. xiaomi doesn’t just release a lower spec phone, it serves all demographics,

    What sets this apart from the “aternatives” is MIUI. Lenovo phones have a horrible UI and are loaded with bloatware that slows the phones down. Most of the low priced alternatives never receive updates. This will sell tens of millions of units because it is a trusted brand with good software.

      If I remember right Lenovo was the first give Kitkat Update to their MTK6592 handset which Xiaomi still didn’t give Kitkat Redmi Note and Redmi.
      Also I see complains how MIUI running slow especially Redmi 1s and people complains how MIUI is “horrible.”
      This is hardly an upgrade to Redmi 1s, worse it’s behind competition. This will damage Xiaomi’s reputation.
      They are forced to drop Redmi line’s prices because of their hardware behind of competition. This will be no different.

        Lenovo is good with updates it doesn’t change the fact that their UI is full of bloatware and not very good. Their phones are good. MIUI is not for everyone so there will always be some complaints just like there are for every other UI/OS. There is no universal praise for a single one.
        But there are far more people who prefer MIUI to what Lenovo uses, just take a look at any forum and see how many people with Lenovo phones are looking for a different ROM for their phones. Their is a reason that the K3 almost mirrors the Redmi 1s specs and design, Lenovo made that phone specifically with the Redmi 1s in mind. The Redmi 1s was such a good phone just about every manufacturer has been trying to play catch up to come up with a low cost competitor.

        That doesn’t change the fact people wants Android updates which Xiaomi pretty much sucks. Also obviously not everybody like MIUI.
        Xiaomi build a reputation offering handsets with good price performance ratio but lately seems they are losing their edge.
        That new Redmi so ugly IMO also with that specs competitors doesn’t need to catch up Xiaomi anymore.
        K3 offers larger display, not just better also really good design for that price range, twice as internal storage and probably Android updates.
        They couldn’t sell it with 799 yuan which Redmi and Redmi 1s’s launch price tag IMO.

        Xiaomi doesn’t offer as many Android updates but they do offer MIUI updates every single week. The people who really care about Android updates are the people like us who spend all of our time on websites like this geeking out about phones. Most consumers have no clue what the difference is between 4.2 and 4.4 other than a name. Xiaomi doesn’t make the Redmi series for people like us, that is what the Mi4 is for.
        Xiaomi operates very similar to Apple. Their philosophy is if aint broke don’t fix it, just make minor improvements. The Redmi is one of the top selling phones in the world. They didn’t need to make major changes to it. Just like the Mi3 and the Mi4 didn’t have major differences (other than design). Xiaomi has the Apple style fan base that they can get away with doing this. This phone will still sell tens of millions of units. Lenovo doesn’t have that. They have to try to out spec the Redmi in hopes they can steal some of those sales.

        Average customer doesn’t know or care about differences between UIs too. Almost everybody knows somebody has knowledge about smartphones and could ask their advice.
        As well I know first Redmi doesn’t have that tough competition and Redmi 1s can’t sell at 799 yuan anymore because of competitors in fact.
        There are MIUI fans and on the other hand there are Xiaomi fans likes company’s great offers for it’s prices. People on the tight budget wants best possible hardware for their money. Apple customers much less care.
        Seems to me Xiaomi intentionally doesn’t give their best effort anymore. Like they are saying we are an established company now and we can offer less than others.
        Their reputation could carry them a while more, but eventually people will realize Xiaomi doesn’t offer best for their money IMO, if they keep that attitude.
        Samsung still is number one, sells millions but they are losing ground because people see there are better offers. That progress maybe slow but it’s obvious.
        Xiaomi’s goal is reaching top spot, so they must to keep their success formula IMO. They don’t use huge advertisement campaigns. I see their administers have stressed importance word of mouth. Their best advertisement are their prices for specs. There is a difference saying between Xiaomi is best and Xiaomi is good.

        People want the best phone for their money not so much the best hardware. The Phone can have the best possible hardware imaginable but if the software sucks it is worthless. The average consumer also wants what is popular, what their friends have, what celebrities use etc. Right now in China and India (Xiaomi’s two biggest markets) they are the “in” thing. They are the phone that everyone wants. Just like you can buy Kia’s that are more powerful than a BMW but they still won’t be on the same level as BMW in the consumers mind.
        “Xioami doesn’t offer them the best for their money”. I am guessing you never heard of the Mi4. One of the best flagship phones available for the price most companies charge for mid range phones. Even the Mi3 can still compete with many flagships and it can be found for under $250.
        Xiaomi’s goal is to have MIUI be the most used UI in the world. They are very similar to Google in the sense that they offer their phones for near cost and make up for it through the MIUI store and advertising.
        You are right in saying their best advertisement are their prices and specs, but what you don’t realize is who they are competing with for those prices/specs. They don’t care what Lenovo does. They are competing with Samsung, Meizu, Apple, OPPO/Vivo, LG, HTC. Lenovo may move millions of units but they are no a serious competitor to any of the major brands. Phones from almost all of those brands with similar specs cost more. For example Samsung has the Galaxy A5 which has the following specs:
        4.7 inch 720p display
        Snapdragon 410
        2gb ram
        32 gb rom
        12mp rear/5 front
        It has more memory and storage but this phone is all listed at close to $400 in some markets.

        We saw similar arguments from established brands’ fans like HTC etc.
        Your guess is wrong I know Mi4 very well, also as you stated correctly Mi4 one of the best for it’s price not best. And we are discussing about new Redmi not Mi4.
        They could pretend not caring what their competitors doing but when it hurts they couldn’t ignore it anymore. Even their goal are reaching top spot of smartphone global shipments, real threat to them not Samsung, other Chinese vendors.
        I really like Xiaomi, even I’m considering myself a fan, but seems to me recently they are kind of relaxed because of their success.
        Even if their software is better, it shouldn’t be an excuse to weaker hardware. As well I know Mi3, Redmi, Redmi 1s and Redmi Note was front of the competition. They are changing or didn’t predict that tough competition.

        We were discussing the Redmi and then you said “Xiaomi doesn’t offer the best for their money”. The Mi4 is made by Xiaomi and is one of the best flagshis for their money, you even just admitted it. Which means that statement is false.
        Like I have already said better hardware doesn’t always mean a better phone. The Redmi 1s was already an amazing phone, it didn’t need much to make it any better other than some minor tweaks. Why mess with something that was already amazing? Iphone figured this out years ago. If you have a device that sells well and offers good performance and good software you don’t need to offer cutting edge tech. Your competitors do because they can’t compete with you.

        One of the best doesn’t mean best. They are used to be best, not one of the best.
        And I see people complains their Redmi 1s’ with 1GB RAM doesn’t work smooth as it should be with heavy MIUI also they are pretty much sucks at Android updates so please stop that good software argument.
        I wouldn’t call improvements as messing. Once Redmi line were amazing, but now they are average.
        Xiaomi isn’t Apple and Xiaomi customers’ loyalty belongs to their purse.
        Wouldn’t be better if this new Redmi would have come with better hardware?

    i agree there are better priced ones. however miui is the one thing people buy with a xiaomi phone too. the lenovo or huawei UI is imho not great, also is xiaomi quick in fixing OS glitches
