Just today we posted images which are believed to be of a future Xiaomi phone, and here is another possible spy photo of a future Mi phone.
It’s not clear if the model pictured on a desk top somewhere in China is meant to be a Xiaomi Mi5, an update to the Mi4 or possibly the new Redmi, but if I had to put money on it I would say that this is the Xiaomi Redmi 2.
The spy photos give us to angles to look at the new phone, which show design characteristic of the Mi Pad, and Xiaomi Mi3, which would further point at a lower cost phone with a plastic construction.
Gizchina News of the week
The images don’t give too many details however the Mi logo is there, and we can make out a volume rocker on the left and a USB blue in the base. It’s hard to tell the size of the phone but offering up device I have to a keyboard would give us a phone size of between 5.5-inch to 6-inch.
While we are pretty sure this is a Redmi, Chinese tech sites where the image was originally posted believe that this is the Xiaomi Mi5, which could features a 2K display, Snapdragon 810 processor and a price tag of up to 2999 Yuan!
What do you think? Redmi, Mi5, or a fake?

If its real, I am in love.
Looks like my bathroom tile
I would go for MI4 Note
if i wouldnt buy a new phone next month i would probably aim for this ;D
After i bought the redmi note 4g for dad and tryed MIUI i will say this, if this hits the market within the first quarter of 2015, they got my money. I’m so close to buy the Mi4 LTE – but would rather have a bigger screen. What ever the next Xiaomi phone is, I’m buying it. 😀
As a satisfied user of the M2S, I was a big fan of Xiaomi for the past 16 months, but my love for Xiaomi is cooling down faster than a Westeros’ winter approaching.
Xiaomi kept the FDD-LTE roaming world waiting too long. And even now that the FDD-LTE version is gradually becoming available, it’s still only the (white) 16 GB version, and it’s offered at a roughly $ 100 higher retail price than some serious competitors like the Nubia Z7 mini or the Honor 6. And frankly spoken, I think that sucks.
You can’t compare z7 mini and mi4, it’s like night and day. And I’m not only talking about quality of the components, I’m talking about a company that provides updates every 2 weeks. Go take a look at the Nubia forum, it’s so buggy that their customers wants to sell their phone. Honor 6 is a good competitor, then it’s up to personal taste
On the paper z7 mini is a great phone, but reality is another one. And I’m not saying this because I don’t like Nubia, you have no idea how close I have been on buying one!
So the “reality” spoke otherwise but you haven’t even actually touch the phone in reality. Uh huh.
Well, I said that I was very close to ‘own’ one but that statement doesn’t mean that I haven’t ‘touch’ one.
It’s not based on your reality but the reality you read on internet. Uh huh.
I’m trying to figure out where you want to bring me. Is it a kind of philosophic trick? Are there different kind of reality? Personal and other’s one? With my scientific education if I ask 100 people what they think about a phone and 95 of them answer that it’s cheap made then I can tell that this phone is most likely cheap made without even owning one. It’s called statistic. If you read below I said that one of my buddies bought one so I had chance to ‘touch’ one and I agree that it looks cheap made, plus by that time the software was buggy. I don’t know now because he got rid of it.
It’s called internet statistic. And I don’t care enough to explain that to you, believe what you want to believe.
desponent though i follow your argument i think you need to expand your argument, you taunted him enough, besides I think it would be useful to us all- peace!
I don’t care how he led his life, believing whatever “the internet” is saying as “reality”. That’s none of my business.
As for explanation, it’s really simple logic at work.
What he brought here was just a sterile sarcasm, which I don’t care about, I know people gets bored. I was trying to explain him that just because I didn’t buying that phone it doesn’t mean I have not dealt with one of it. Again, now he assumes that I’m one of those people who believe on everything on internet. Where did he get that? Who knows, I think he was lacking on arguments. But whatever,I could have made fun of his so called ‘internet statistic’ which is mentioned by none of the most important authors, unless it’s a theory developed by himself. In that case I would like to read about it if he provides me a name of a book. Still, it’s a mystery to me what he’s doing on this blog, especially commenting on a post about rumors.
We are taking about Chinese phones that are only sold online. At least here in the US there are no physical stores that sell those. I wish that I could find and ‘touch’ them at the BestBuy down the street. As everybody did I checked this blog ( Andy reviewed most of them) and to go deep into it I check the dedicated forum to read feedback from real customers. Of course, I’m not going to considers comments like ‘ this phone sucks,iPhone is the best’ as well I don’t consider comments like Mr smarty pants did before, which didn’t bring anything useful into the conversation. This is called process of verification of the sample. It’s mentioned in all books of statistic. What you get at the end it’s still an idea, but you just got much closer to what he calls ‘Reality’. Then once you picked your phone you have to apply the same procedure to find a reliable reseller. Everything has been made online, if you know any other method then please let me know, so next time I’ll avoid to be pointed as one who believes anything on internet
Well Massimo, thanks for warning, but being a Dutchman I read quite a number of Dutch blogs and fora too, and every single Nubia Z7 (mini) owner I’ve read about speaks highly of this phone.
The Honor 6 is even available thru local resellers (though only the single-sim version, a.k.a. H60-L04) and this phone has been validated as a pretty good phone too, but with quite a few little translation errors and remaining Chinese texts and characters. Lot’s of owners are waiting for the official (stable) release of Emui 3.0, hoping that would solve most of these issues.
Robert, please don’t get me wrong. To me the z7 is ‘THE’ phone. It was the only one which actually satisfied all my needs (except for the battery). 4g, 5 inch, micro SD, good looking, snap+adreno… Too good to be true. So before buying one I started to look at fora ( Nubia.cn, XDA, andriodiani) this last forum is an Italian one where you can find the ROM of Cuoco which is supposed to be the most stable multi language ROM. The numbers of bad reviews was impressive, but still, I wanted to give it a shot, so I ordered one on aliexpress. Something went wrong went wrong with the payment so while trying to fix it one of my buddies bought one and he was not happy about it, mostly for software. At that point I cancelled my order. And believe me, I was so sad because to me the z7 mini is the only one that satisfied all my needs.
I decided on going with another phone ( which is not xiaomi) so I haven’t followed the progress of Nubia. If they have fixed their problems releasing updates, then go for it. Waiting for your feedback 🙂
My first post might have looked a little like ‘iPhone is better than android’ discussion because of my disappointment from Nubia mostly because of software. You can’t compare the developers and community behind miui with Nubia. Then add build quality, battery, camera and you understand why I have been so harsh with nubia
I haven’t said anything about honor 6. I said that it’s up to personal taste. They actually have the same resellers price, so it’s really on which one someone likes the most
On the paper z7 mini is a great phone, but reality is another one.
Same thing for Redmi 1S, avoid this phone at all cost. Been there, sold it less than a month.
When did the mi4 come out? I’m sure it was only a few months ago?
Wow their engineers were finally able center the charging port on the bottom. Now if only they could center (or lose) the mi logo on the front.
