It hasn’t taken long for Huawei to get the GX1 from leak to launch, as the new phablet has just been revealed in China.
The Huawei Ascend GX1 is the little brother of the popular Huawei Ascend Mate 7. It brings a large display to big screen lovers to those of us who don’t like the vast price tag of the Mate 7.
There are obviously other differences too, such as a screen resolution of 720p on the 6-inch panel (which is pushing it a little), dual SIM, 8 mega-pixel camera on the rear and 2 mega-pixel up front.
Huawei have also gone for a Snapdragon 410 processor in the GX1 which is a little out of the ordinary for them as most of their recent phones have used self developed chips.
Pricing of the Huawei GX1 is the big selling point and Chinese customers can order the phone now for 1590 Yuan, which also gets you NFC and LTE, but just 1GB RAM and 8GB memory. The GX1 isn’t the bargain phablet we had hoped and with recent offerings from Meizu and Elephone to contend with we don’t expect it to be as popular either.
