We’ve been plenty impressed with Huawei’s outing with the Honor series in the past few months. The Honor 6 (review) is a fantastic device, well worth the money. In fact, it’s still one of the best ‘budget flagships’ around, with 3GB of RAM and a 5-inch screen, even though the Honor 6 Plus is already out in the wild.
All this means Huawei is one of the top 5 smartphone makers in the world, but there’s a huge void left to fill: the US market. Huawei doesn’t really have much of a presence in the US, which it is looking to change this year. With people gradually giving preference to unlocked phones, Huawei doesn’t need to spend to much time thinking and has its work cut out. According to a WSJ report, Huawei is looking to do exactly that — bring its unlocked Honor series to the US — sometime later this year.
Gizchina News of the week
This could be great news for people who have been waiting patiently for the affordable smartphone series. With companies like OnePlus coming up at a rapid pace, Huawei don’t have a lot of time to waste.
In 2014, Huawei shipped a total of 75 million smartphones, and saw its revenue rise by an impressive 33%.
