Xiaomi Mi5 cases give us a rough glimpse at next flagship

Silicone cases for the Xiaomi Mi5 show us a large phone with possible IR blaster.

Go back in time a few years and we saw plenty of protective cases launch for phones ahead of the device launch, these leaks gave us an early look at new phones, and were often accurate.

So is this image of a silicone case for the Xiaomi Mi5 an accurate representation of what Xiaomi will launch of the 15th? Let’s take a look at the evidence.

First of all the case looks like it has been made for a larger phone, possibly between 5.5-inch and 5.7-inch. 5.7-inch is what the rumoured 2k display on the Mi5 is believed to be so that adds up.

Looking at the case from the top down we see space for a possible IR blaster (like the Mi4) in the middle, and a tapered design which would be thinner than any previous Xiaomi to date. This all meets expectations of a thin phone from teasers.

The rest of the phone looks like a standard Xiaomi layout with the volume and power buttons on the left side, USB in the base and 3.5mm headphone jack at the very top.

Only 7 days until the Xiaomi live launch begins, and we can finally but these rumours to bed.
