It’s been a day of Xiaomi rumours today and those continue in to the evening with images of the chassis from an unreleased Xiaomi phone in China.

If earlier leaks are correct then this 3D drawing and photos of the chassis in production are of the Xiaomi Mi5. What makes us think this? Well Xiaomi are set to launch a new device in 6 days and teasers, plus images of cases for the new phone, suggest a thin phone.

Looking carefully at the diagram we can make out the name of the product as “小米” which in is the Chinese name for Xiaomi, move along the image and we get details that the chassis is CNC machined and that the dimensions are 140.89 x 71.4 x 5.1mm.

Gizchina News of the week

If we take a look phones of similar dimensions this mystery Xiaomi is thicker only than the Oppo R5 and Vivo X5 Pro, and ties for third thinnest phone with the Gionee Elife S5.1. The width of the phone suggest a screen size of around 5.2-inch with narrow bezels. 71mm actually has the width between the Vivo Xshot (5.2-inch) and the Xiaomi Mi4. Without narrow bezels we will be looking at around a 5-inch display.

The other images show the chassis in various stages of manufacture and show the USB in the right hand side, the same side as the leaked Xiaomi Mi5 cases from earlier.

Does this means a smaller battery?

By all means, it was just a question about the specs.
I agree that if we have a quick charger or qi charging or another new tech helping it would be great but you have to agree that a low mAh battery is not market-attractive to most of the people.

The 5.1mm would be the frame not the phone. On one side you get the screen, on the other the back cover and if the back cover is like on the mi4 then the phone goes towards 8mm.
Ofc they do seem to advertise it as thin so chances are it will be bellow 7mm at least.

With a 140.89 x 71.4 mm body… that means even with a (near) bezeless design, it will likely not a 5.5″ or 5.7″ screen size, as previously predicted. As stated in the article, 5.2″ seams to be the maximum size. Quite impressive… I can only hope that Xiaomi won’t make the mistake again they made by releasing the FDD-LTE version nearly six months after the release of the original Mi4 (not to mention that its maximum of -non expandable- 16 GB storage space is sóóó 2013…).

Oh no.. I really hope that Xiaomi will release flagship model with at least 5.5 inch screen. If the only big screen will be low end note model I’ll need toblook elsewhere 🙁

get a Galaxy Note 4, or LG G3, it would be much better than what Xiaomi would offer anyway.
