Earlier today we received a couple of new phones for review, but the first to get the benchmark treatment is the 64bit MT6732 equipped Elephone P6000. Here is how it performs.
Before we get on to the benchmarks I will first give you a quick overview of my first impression of the Elephone P6000. As someone who has tested a variety of Elephone phones over the years, I was interested to see if the P6000 was a phone that manages to get a nice balance of price, performance and quality.
For anyone who has tried the P3000 for example, you will be well aware that Elephone can make a well spec’d phone at a low-price, but you will also be aware of the flimsy body and thin plastic used to make that particular phone.
The Elephone P6000 is cut from a separate cloth. Upon opening the box I was quite impressed by the look and design, and once in my hand the higher quality construction and materials are evident. Imagine Xiaomi had continued to develop the Xiaomi Mi2S, with are more substantial removable shell, and you will have a good idea at how well this phone is made. I won’t go in to all the details as I need to save something for the full Elephone P6000 review coming soon, but first impressions are very good.
What we are looking at here is the performance of the 64bit quad-core MT6732 processor found in the Elephone P6000. This is one of Mediatek’s new processors for 2015, and it will be driving a number of mid-range smartphones throughout the year.
The MT6732 is a 28nm processor with 4 x Cortex A53 cores running at 1.5Ghz. The SoC has a Mali-T760 GPU, and as it is meant for mid-range phones is compatible with up to 720p displays only, 13 mega-pixel camera’s and video recording at 30FPS @ 1080. LTE is supported as standard.

As you can see from the benchmarks above there are no figures here which are going to set the mobile phone world on fire, but for the cost of the Elephone P6000, and for that matter every phone running the MT6732, there are very solid performances.
Running 3Dmark is especially satisfying to watch. Where as previous MT6582 and MT6592 chips would stutter and slow down, the 64bit MT6732 outclasses them in every way with smooth performance.
Overall I am really pleased with the performance of the MT6732 quad-core processor in the Elephone P6000, and in fact with the phone as a whole. There are still many things I need to test (the call quality and camera being the major two) but so far I belive this could be the best Elephone to date.
Oh and as for GPS, I got a lock on time of only a few seconds while testing the P6000 in Spain! Impressive stuff!
Full review of the Elephone P6000 is coming in the next week or so. Thanks to Elephone for supplying us with this review sample.
