The final launch item from today’s Xiaomi announcement was the Mi Box Mini, an impressively tiny little Android TV box that will cost only 199 Yuan!
I own a Xiaomi Box Pro, and can tell you all it is a great piece of home entertainment kit. It’s fast, powerful, and compact and hides away well on my TV table. Well at least it did sit out of sight until the new Xiaomi Mi Box Mini was released this morning.
Looking at the very very small Mi Box Mini, my black Mi Box Pro looks huge, and unsightly. Imagine the few inches of space I could regain if I replaced the old Android box with the new plug mounted version!
Gizchina News of the week
Ok a little over the top, but the Mi Box Mini is no less impressive. The small plug sits directly in to a power adaptor or wall mounted socket and has a single HDMI port to connect to your TV. Xiaomi provide a white remote with the Mi Box Mini so you can navigate through the MIUI TV system.
Without much space to play with the specifications for the Mini are below those of the pro, but are more than up to the task of running HD video, apps and a few games. The processor is a 1.3Ghz quad-core, there is 1GB RAM, 4GB memory, Dolby and DTS sounds, plus Bluetooth and H.265 video support.
So far only a China launch has been announced with the device costing only 199 Yuan. Watch out for the smart TV accessory to arrive on reseller sites in the coming weeks.
