Xiaomi launch the Xiaomi Mi Note with up to 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 810

Xiaomi’s launch has been an impressive one, with the company launch 2 flagship phablet phones with some very impressive hardware specifications! Keep reading for more details of the Xiaomi Mi Note.

It was no surprise that Xiaomi launch a flagship phablet today, nor was it a surprise that 2 version of the phone were launched, but the design, hardware and pricing of the new devices did catch us off guard.

Xiaomi announced the Mi Note which is a 5.7-inch phablet. Both versions of the phone boast a 3000mAh battery, 13 mega-pixel Sony rear camera with OIS and a front 4 mega-pixel (ultra pixel camera) the same as the rear sensor on the HTC M8. Those are the basic configurations of each. Both phones also get audio HIFI with support for DAC and Cat 9 LTE.

A base model Xiaomi Mi Note has a 5.7-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD display, Snapdragon 801 processor, and 3GB RAM. Thats powerful hardware and all wrapped up in a slim alloy body measuring just 6.95mm.

For those of you who require the best of the best though there is a high end version of the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, which gets a boost in screen resolution to 2K, a whopping 4GB RAM and 64GB memory and, possibly most exciting of all, a Snapdragon 810 chipset!

Xiaomi also went out of their comfort zone for the Xiaomi Mi Note launch in terms of price. The base model Snapdragon 801 version of the flagship phablet will set fans back 2299 Yuan, 299 Yuan more than their traditional 1999 Yuan price point.

If you want the all powerful 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 810 Mi Note Pro though you are going to have to hand over a lot more cash! The proce of this beast is going to be 3299 Yuan! Thats the price of the Xiaomi Mi4 plus a Redmi and change!

Another shock is that our source in Beijing (who has had his hands on the new Mi Note) has informed us that Xiaomi have added dual SIM support to their flagship phablet!

Edit: On a serious note, personally I like the desing, don’t know the material used for it as I started liking metal devices lately, but I think overall it looks nice. Definitely I would prefer the pro version from phones like Samsung Note 4 for example.
Price wise though they started going higher and higher, which is understandable if you think what they provide but on the other hand… keeping a very good ratio price/quality was one of the reasons we loved these companies, and now they start losing it.

  For this price(plus the resellers profit+shipping+tax) its a no go for customers outside china. too bad i had plenty xiaomi devices..Now i think that meizu mx4 is a better vfm than xiaomi note!again thats my thoughts!

I don’t like Xiaomi .
Their design is never good .
And I am not sure about the Snapdragon 810 .
Because Samsung will not use it in next Flagship because of overheating issue .(According to some sources).
I am waiting for Oppo to bring a device like this .

    I think the Vivo xplay 5s will also get this chipset and will be priced similarly. I would rather have a Vivo over Xiaomi as their devices are always very stylish.

    VIVO will be excellent but it’s availability is rare outside China .
    While OPPO has flagship store in my country .
    All their flagship are available here .

The Mi Note is priced at 2299 Chinese Yuan ($371) for the 16GB model and 2799 Chinese Yuan ($451) for the 64GB model. The extended warranty will cost you 199 Yuan ($32).
– those prices are for 801 model
– no basic feature like micro sd slot, this is made even funnier since they promote hifi dac lol

  Fail price point. Considering you would be able to buy it only from resellers as it was before, the price after the added reseller tax would be around 500$ for the 801 snapdragon.
  Wont buy a phone without warranty from China with an outdated hardware for 2015 for that much ever.

    Exactly, it’s not even a 805 which would be kind of obsolete by the time the phone become readily available on most country.
    It’s funny how they seems to think that they’re too big too fail when companies far far bigger than them did as history proves time and time again.

  Micro SD slot on a Xiaomi phone is not going to happen for the simple reason that they provide also a cloud service within MIUI, they make money with their services too. If this is a reason for a fail then in your opinion OPO is a fail, Meizu is a fail and many more flagships. They make money selling the 64GB version rather than the 16 GB. About the price, I can’t afford both, but still, if they sell their MI4 at 1799 CNY then they locate these last 2 phones at the right price range. If Meizu or Vivo overprice their phones it’s because they provide quality, when Xiaomi does it’s a fail. This last MI Note costs exactly like the premium version of Vivo xshot of last year which is still considered a great phone. I really don’t understand all this shit against Xiaomi.

    Yes they’re failures in my eyes. I need those storages, an OS powered phone without those are just as useful as a car without windshield, roof or anything beside a seat and the engine. It serves its purpose as a vehicle that transport people from point A to B and nothing else. (Made even funnier with how they promote 24 bit dac on this one… You know how big a single 24 bit music file is?).
    “Quality” and “Premium” are such an overblown BS, you could get those for cheaper but of course it’s from a “no-name” brand (that slowly gnaw on the big one’s market).

So Xiaomi is done with the good prices,now they try to milk their China base and struggle outside.
Their so called strategy where they make money from the ecosystem was a lie ,they just did a bait and switch.
Now about the actual devices, the Note is boring on the hardware side and 1cm too tall, design wise the big upper and lower bezels ruin it while the bigger lower bezel adds a touch of weird. The pricing is disappointing.
The Pro has the same flaws but proper high end specs (unlike the Note that is so 2013) but a SoC that will surprise many with it’s performance (don’t expect gains in single core CPU outside of encryption). The pricing is …. insulting.
I assume no microSD again so they continue with their lack of respect for their users and unnecessary greed.
I know better than to expect innovation from them but they could at least understand some basic principles ( even sony got the memo about screen to body ratio) and show some decency.( LG and HTC had to learn their lesson the hard way when it comes to microSD).
At least this launch wasn’t as bad as the, so called, Redmi 2 but i really shouldn’t have planned my entire day around this launch lol.
Hoped they are smart enough to become one of the biggest tech giants but they clearly don’t have it, they need smarter people and better instincts.Their IoT vision is gadget spam without any innovation. In phones instead of launching what they need most they do this. They needed a Redmi 3 ,a Redmi Note 2 , a cheaper tablet and only after that a big high end phone.
It’s a pity that they can’t do at least a little bit better and that their pricing strategy was just a trap.

  I really do feel that people need to get just a bit more practical instead of just jumping on up and down on something before thinking it through you are getting and 810 chipset 4gb of ram and 2k screen with 64gb for £350 in pounds yep it might not see the light of day in England and their will be a mark up if it does come to my shores but that’s how much you will get in china plus with dual sim yes it does not have an SD for anyone one that is in China that is amazing value. There build quality is great people really do need to start getting real they are a business not a charity.

    yeah well you are clueless.
    1440p is now what 1080p was last year and 2 years ago, SD810 doesn’t mean anything, it’s just a yearly upgrade and there is no reason for it to cost more than 801 was last year at launch.As for an extra GB or RAM ,that’s not much at all. You don’t get what you pay for,you get a lot less. You can actually get the LG G3 for quite a bit less than the Note Pro and has microSD, better screen to body ratio, better support , a less childish UI. The Iuni U3 has 1440p at 320$ not 532$. 532 is not China pricing and it’s certainly not Xiaomi pricing..

      Why am clueless I was talking about the pro the price for that is not bad and I was converting it in sterling as I live in the uk £350 is a good price for pro yes I know through 3rd part sellers it will cost more. that’s just the conversion price I paid £250 for mi4 which I don’t think is bad. People are buying phones for way more than that in China I will leave you to have your moaning and pity party

        Look, Xiaomi’s claimed strategy is (was) that they sell devices close to cost.
        At cost not TWICE that. Flagship devices cost some 200-250$ to make and then once it leaves the factory things keep being added. The margins, licenses, transportation, warehouses ,distributors,retailers and so on.Xiaomi sells directly ,doesn’t hold large inventory and claimed to be selling close to cost so not much was added after the factory’s gate.
        Apple sells at some 3 times more than what it costs to build it, Xiaomi used to sell at just a little bit more and they claimed they make money from the ecosystem (software,services). Sure this device because of the glass ,HIFI and 64GB NAND might cost a bit more than 250$ but not that much. Xiaomi changed strategy,they went from very good prices to a lot more with the Pro. It’s like Samsung going from 600 to 1000$ all of the sudden.
        EDIT; Maybe this will help you understand.
        Xiaomi pricing was kinda like the Nexus except even cheaper. So what they did with the Pro is a lot like what Google did with the Nexus 6 by going from 350$ to 650$. Xiaomi’s flagship was always 2000CNY, now they went 60% higher without a good justification. Everybody was upset about the Nexus 6 pricing and this is just like that situation, you got an affordable device that people are really excited about that just betrays your expectations with much higher pricing.

        Its the same complaint that people had when the Nexus 6 came it. But none of these companies claimed that they would hold onto there said pricing structure forever without change. And if people want them to make products that relevant and really compete with specs and build prices will go up. Somehow you seem like treating me as if I am a child and I don’t understand. All I was pointing that yes Xiaomi prices have gone up but with the price of pro and what it offeres it competative. Nobody likes when prices go up but everyone seems to want better build and the latest specs.

      And cluelessness. Bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better specially when it comes to battery life specially when it comes to recharging.

Inflation is going to affect prices in China (of course Xiaomi also wants to make more profit). Too bad no cheap note 2 is announced, I was hoping for that. Now, Meizu and other manufacturers will have a lead in the budget market with mediatek chipsets

Well it seems to me like they are gearing up for a launch in western markets soon , here’s the thing cheap phones may sell in China , India n Asia
but the not in the west where phones are subsidized ,so a phone like this subsidized by the carriers will be ideal for a U.S launch , they’ll probably team up with a carrier first and see how it goes.
Plus they end up with more profit either way being the first company to launch with new high end specs has it’s cost, even that JDI panel
A similar samsung would cost 700$ and would run lag software unlike MIUI which is very stable and performs admirabily.
For me personally this just makes Meizu MX4 pro seem way more compelling. Cheaper has a fingerprint scanner and the best one handed usability with Flyme.

    That make the Note range of Samsung much more coherent with the Big Screen approach : they just don’t give a big screen for a big screen ; they provide useful tools to go with it.
    That make me appreciate more what Sammy made with their Galaxy Note. Especially the Note 4 that is really impressive (hopefully one day i will have one :))

I think Meizu will replace Xiaomi on most peoples’ minds soon if Xiaomi does not realize and change course soon.
Redmi 2 was not really any special from Redmi 1S, and this one (Mi Note) IMO is just a bloated Mi4.

Disappointment, disappointment, disappointment…
In my opinion XIAOMI should have released a mid range phone with the following specs: CPU Snapdragon 615, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 16GB ROM + Micro SD up to 64GB, screen size 4.7″ to 5″ Max (1080p), 2800 mAh replaceable battery, decent design similar to Redmi 2. A price around 250$ for international buyers would have been just perfect.
For the regular followers, do you believe that the price of the MI4 16GB will drop in coming days or weeks? I heard that Meizu will release the M1 Mini with a 5″ screen size in coming weeks? Is it worth to wait for it? What about the Jiayu S4? Any news? I also heard that IUNI will release the IUNI U4, is it true?
I need to buy a phone but can’t decide which one to buy (available phones in the market):
– Redmi 2
– IUNI U2
– Xiaomi MI4 16GB
Your help is welcome.

I really don’t get all this hate against Xiaomi, they made a true phablet flagship to compete with Samsung Note 4 and iPhone 6 plus ( yes, those are their competitors, not Cubot or Jiayu, with all due respect to those 2 brands) putting the best hardware up to date and selling it much cheaper than Samsung and Apple. You guys have been arguing about price, but none of them has said anything about Meizu or Vivo price in the past, by then it was only about guarantee good quality. Micro SD card slot? Yeah, I would love that feature too, but that’s how they keep prices low, that’s how OPO does ( if you get an invite you can be sure it’s going to be for the 64gb one) plus xiaomi is not just a phone, they are miui as well and they provide a pay cloud service.Actually that’s their main way to make money, since they sell their phones at just above cost price like they did this last time as well, new technology (SD810,DDR4 ram…) Is expensive for customers and for Xiaomi as well since they don’t make any of those components
