Meizu MX4 Pro Review Video

meizu mx4 pro review

I finally had some time this week to put together the Meizu MX4 Pro review as a video. Audio, performance, camera’s and Flyme are all covered inside!

I was lucky enough to be at the launch of the Meizu MX4 Pro in Beijing last year, and although I had posted a first impressions video of the phone, and a full Meizu MX4 Pro written review, I had trouble to finally get around to making a video review.

Early this week though the opportunity arose and sat down for a few hours and uploaded the below Meizu MX4 Pro video review. Also, as requested I have shown the front facing camera, made an audio test for the external speaker and also gone over some of the unique features of Flyme 4.1.

Gizchina News of the week

Meizu MX4 Pro – Conclusion

Overall I’ve been very impressed with the Meizu MX4 Pro, it is a high-end phone with some very nice security features and flagship hardware. Flyme 4.1 really shines too, and I’m impressed with Meizu’s efforts to enable easy one-handed operation.

Where to buy a Meizu MX4 Pro?

So far the only issue with the Meizu MX4 Pro, for international readers (those of you outside China), is where to get the phone at an affordable price. In China the MX4 Pro starts at just 2499 Yuan ($402), where as on Meizu’s official Meizumart site the price starts from an incredible $579!

There are also official European resellers who sell the MX4 Pro (and other Meizu products) such as Topresellerstore.com, whose price is again high at $649, do offer the phone from within Europe and with a 24 month warranty.

The cheapest price I have found so far for the Meizu MX4 Pro is on Aliexpress, where prices vary from as little as $380! However, it is always a gamble buying through such private sellers in China, and we have heard issues with fake phones, or simply empty boxes being sent.

Hey Andi, your feedback on below points compared to Xshot :

    1. Camera performance
    2. Audio performance on same headphones
    3. Usability of OS

I hope you are still on Vivo Xshot.
Recently got mine and it’s camera and audio performance is a plus point compared to others in the league.

      Hi,

      1) Camera is as good as the Xshot (if not better in some cases) but it is not as consistent. E.G With the Xshot I can just snap a photo and be confident I have a good one, where as the MX4 Pro I need to take a little time setting the camera up for the best performance.

      2) Audio with the headphones is much better than the external speaker, but the Xshot wins overall. I’m not sure if Flyme is taking full advantage of the audio hardware on offer at this moment.

      3) Flyme is different to other Android ROMs, but it is very easy to get around and everything is easy to find. The camera application is one of the best of any phone I have tried (although some of the Xshot Pro features and settings are missing). Meizu have done an amazing job of making Flyme customisable and easy to handle one handed.

I still have my Xshot, although I have been using an Oppo N3 as my day to day phone for the past week. Audio performance and photo quality is every bit as good as the Vivo, but I beleve the Oppo is faster to take a photo. Still the Xshot is still my fave and I cannot wait for the Xshot 2 😀

My anticipate phone at this moment :

        Xshot 2
        New Flagship Oppo Find
Asus Zenfone Zoom (Would like to see if Zenfone Zoom has good camera and battery doesn’t drain a lot like Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom/K Zoom)

Hopefully, these doesn’t cost too much.

    @Gizchina:disqus
You know what type of battery MX4/MX4 pro has? Li-ion, Li-poly or something else?
If you know please answer me as I can’t find it anywhere on the net.

Flyme takes some getting used to but once you do ,you get a lot of advantages , especially for one handed use

For example a simple thing like trying to change to selfie mode in any camera app with one hand on a typical smartphone is such a chore , you need to reach to the very top, change you grip etc…

but it’s made easy in flyme thx to the smartbar, all the controls are presented easily at the bottom for quick access
it’s a a old feature of flyme but good one nonetheless

I tried Flyme as a experiement over MIUI and now I prefer it over Xiaomi’s skin anyday much better for big smartphones.
