Saturday through Monday, citizens of
India will be able to purchase the
Xiaomi Redmi Note, the 4G variant thereof, without having to procure any sort of an invite/pre-booking/registration beforehand. Traditionally, Xiaomi sells its phone on Tuesdays 2pm, which requires prospective buyers to be 'registered' for the
sale beforehand. Meaning, you can't just show up at 2pm on a Tuesday and take home a Xiaomi.
The Chinese company announced today that for three days, i.e., January 24th-26th, the device (4G Redmi Note) will be sold via an open
sale.
26th January is celebrated as the republic day in
India, so this is a case of
Xiaomi trying to be Indian in India. The 4G version of the Redmi Note goes for 9,999 INR (US$160) in the country and can be
bought from Flipkart as usual.
