MWC is getting closer and there is a lot of discussion as to who will launch what. Huawei, if rumours are to be believed, will launch a compact version of the Huawei Mate 7.
The Huawei Mate 7 is one of the best looking phones from the Chinese phone maker so far. Even if it is a little large for some users, I think we can all agree it’s a good-looking device.
Well what if Huawei were launching a slimmer, more compact version? That’s the rumour today. Apparently Huawei won’t be launching their 5-inch P8 at MWC (that will be at a separate event later in the year), but instead will use the show to promote a smaller Mate 7.
Gizchina News of the week
Specifications aren’t clear at this moment but a screen size of 5.5-inch seems likely, as does a Kirin processor and at least 2GB RAM. Hopefully Huawei will retain the finger print scanner in the rear also.

The first goal of business is to make a profit .
And if you look at the profit side Huawei makes more profit per unit sold then Xiaomi and Meizu .
The way to earn profit is tumultuous, especially when you were a startup company like Meizu and Xiaomi.
There is nothing wrong with both approach nor what I said; they are giving up.
If you had the choice would you go for the Ascend 7 Compact or the P8 ?
Neither since I don’t know their specs or price.
So the Honor brand isn’t meant to be a Xiaomi competitor?
Read the article above. And 6X plus is already priced above most Xiaomi’s.
The article above seems misinformed to me. Huawei haven’t changed their name to Honor in the UK, they’ve simply introduced the Honor phones there and there are rumours they’re planning to drop the Ascend name but nothing is set in stone. Also, the Honor 6 Plus is $320, which is Xiaomi’s normal price for flagships pre Mi Note.
Straight from horse mouth :
‘The news comes from Huawei CEO Richard Yu, who in an interview said, “We are giving up the low-end of the market. Many vendors are suffering. Only two have a good life: Apple and Samsung.”’
I don’t know how it could be clearer. Honor 6 and plus comes before this news, let’s see if they will keep the next line in that price.
Huawei is the premium brand, Honor is the cheaper sub brand. It’s just that. Huawei is making the premium phones like the Mate 7 and P7 while Honor takes care of the VFM part of the market. If Huawei really were giving up the VFM market, the Honor line wouldn’t exist.
So you’re saying that Honor isn’t a Huawei phone because it’s a sub brand. Decision can change, you’re saying as if Honor line will always exist or positioned like they are just because they exist now. That’s funny.
Then again, why am I arguing this when the CEO of Huawei already said it himself. Kinda inane and delusional lol.

Thanks for that, let’s see where they wan to put this Mate ‘mini’.
No, I’m saying Huawei is dividing it’s efforts. It’s giving the VFM section to Honor and the premium section to itself. Honor phones are still Huawei phones, just targeted at different audiences and managed by different people.
And so I shouldn’t see things the way they are? Honor is currently a VFM brand, same goes for Xiaomi, Meizu and Nubia. There’s the possibility that it won’t stay that way, but it’s only a possibility. It’s also a possibility that I’ll win a lottery tomorrow, or that Sony will close it mobile division, or terrorists will attack your home. They’re all only possibilities, they’re not supposed to be considered as a point in a factual argument.
And Richard Yu’s words can clearly be interpreted in multiple ways. You could say they’re giving up low end for good, but it could also mean Huawei is simlply doing what I’ve been saying and is leaving Honor in charge of the VFM market. It could also mean they’re simply done making actual low end phones with bad specs and are making sure that everything that comes out from them will have either mid range or high end specs.
Also, you really seem to enjoy disrespecting others like you’re better than everyone else. Get off your high horse, it’s disgusting.
