The MeeGo Pad T01 shot to fame late last year thanks to its super small size combined with its ability to run full Windows instead of the usual Android OS. However, the device drew a lot of flak for shipping with a trial version of Windows 8.1, which naturally increased costs on the buyer’s end.
It has been learnt that the device is now shipping with genuine Windows OS in the form of Windows 8.1 with Bing. Not only does this mean that the buyer doesn’t have to procure additional costs to purchase a Windows license, it also means that there’ll be no legal issues involved with using the device.
Gizchina News of the week
We recently reviewed the device, which unfortunately was from the very first batch and hence, didn’t come with Windows 8.1 with Bing. Nonetheless, in our review we found the little USB drive-like device to be quite a handful. Now that it comes with genuine licensed Windows OS, buyers will be a lot more at ease in taking the plunge.
It still sells for around the US$110 mark, which some feel is a bit too expensive. What do you think the price for the MeeGo Pad T01 should be? I’d be happy to pay anything under US$100 for a device like this.

Actually, i don’t know if you’ve tried it its actually pretty smooth.
As long as you’re not doing any heavy multitasking it’s up to it, I’ve had 6 tabs open on my browser and QQ video chat going and it wasn’t lagging.
I’m suprised mine can even run dota2 at 1280×800 on low.
Just goes to show how far Intel has come with their Atom line.
You’re probably the first one saying that! Have you read our review? https://www.gizchina.com/2015/01/15/meego-pad-t01-review/ it’s quite a decent device as a second computer if you ask me. Also see how well it handles NFS: Underground at full settings. Users have reported GTA SA to run smooth (enough) on the T01.
Lol… gone are the days of clock speed being the only reason why a cpu is fast. We have past that point since the Pentium 4 era.
Clock speed is just one factor of many that make up the speed of a cpu. Heck, I have a 3.7GHz Pentium 4 Extreme still laying around, and this “measly” 1.7GHz Atom will destroy it in every way.
BTW, my Windows 8 tablet is running an Intel i3 1.4GHz, and it’s pretty snappy in Windows 8.
