Xiaomi’s Android tablet, the Mi Pad, hasn’t seen much action outside of it’s native China however new teasers suggest the 7.9-inch tablet is heading for Malaysia.
The Xiaomi MiPad is an NVIDIA Tegra K1 Android tablet with 2GB RAM, 7.9-inch Retina display running Xiaomi’s own MIUI. The MiPad has had moderate success in China for it’s high-end hardware and low-price and now Xiaomi look like they want to try further afield.
A new teaser suggests that the Xiaomi MiPad’s next stop could be Malaysia, where the mini tablet will compete with the likes of the Apple iPad mini.
We reviewed the Xiaomi MiPad last year and use the device daily, and although we do like it we also feel it would be better, and also sell much faster had it shipped with 3G or 4G rather than only WIFI.
The Mi Pad costs from 1499 Yuan in China and comes in a range of colours. Pricing and a launch date for Malaysia have not been confirmed.
