In China everyone is getting ready for the Chinese New Year, with companies such as Xiaomi launching new products to make the most of the holiday shopping time.
Ahead of the Spring Festival, Xiaomi will be offering a lot of products for fans to choose from. Everything from the Xiaomi Box to the flagship Mi Note will be on sale, but the surprise is the enhanced version of the Xiaomi Redmi 2.
Gizchina News of the week
Sporting 2GB RAM instead of 1GB, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 has a 4.7-inch 720p display, 8 mega-pixel main camera, and Snapdragon 410 processor plus LTE. The 2GB RAM model will retail for 799 Yuan in China, 100 Yuan more than the 1GB version, and will officially launch on the 23rd February.
Normally international resellers would be able to offer the enhanced Redmi 2 shortly after the Chinese launch, but with the holiday period we might see a short delay in (unofficial) international launch.

It also has 16GB of NAND vs 8GB for the 699CNY model.
I do like the size of it, and I’ve been a satisfied user of MIUI for a year and a half now. Pitty though that they don’t sell it with i.e. the much more powerful MediaTek MT6752 (or at least the Snapdragon 615) instead.
I totally agree with you but you have to know that Xiaomi broke their deal with MediaTek a few months ago, so it will be impossible to see a Xiaomi device with a MediaTek CPU. That being said, it would have been perfect from Xiaomi to produce a Redmi with Snapdragon 615 CPU and a battery of 2500 mAh (replaceable). Unfortunately, that’s not their wishes and most of companies have the same marketing strategy. If you want to have a pretty decent phone with advanced specs then you have to spend at least 350€ to get a flagship but you won’t be able to use its full power.
Oppo released a device named R1C with the specs you are looking for but its price is very high.
I think that I am going to buy the Redmi 2 enhanced version when it will be available in the market. I am tired waiting for a mid range device to come in the market and I don’t have 350€ or 400€ to spend for a flagship.
you don’t have to spend that much for a flagship… either you can go for
1. Xiaomi Mi3 – with Snapdragon 800 which is still a potent processor in the market available for $250 or you can go for
2. Honor 6 which is around $300 its a beast of a mid-range device I did bought this and it works like a charm.
Thank you for your message. Well, I haven’t seen the same price for the Honor 6. It is sold in France at 300€ and from resellers like Ibuygou, you can get it at 325€ without shipping costs. The MI3 is a really good phone but might be too big, would have preferred the size of the MI4.
For me it will be Redmi 2 (Pro), Meizu M1 Mini or Iuni U2.
