Meizu boss Heng Zhang has hinted on his Weibo that an Ubuntu phone from the company could be unveiled at MWC this year.
Across China’s Weibo, there are leaks tagged with “UFO”, hinting at an Ubuntu Flyme OS device designed especially for the international phone market, and that it could be unveiled at MWC. It was already rumoured that Canonical would have a new Ubuntu Meizu to show at MWC, now Meizu boss Heng Zhang is teasing the same.
In a Weibo post Heng Zhang posted that “the key to the UFO” could be shown at MWC. He didn’t mention which Meizu phone would come with Ubuntu, but many insiders believe it will either be a variant of the Meizu MX4 or Meizu MX4 Pro.

The long wait could be over soon.
Seeing is believing.
Launching a phone in the west that doesn’t have any ecosystem at all it’s basically pointless.
they say ubuntu os on phone the same like in desktop, so probably can run linux-based desktop app, i don’t know if it false or true
Not yet, not yet… at least until 2016, with the “unified” version (expected April/November). That can really be a game-changer.
I guess Canonical will release the “Ubuntu Edge 2” and I’ll be totally sold. Expect the best.
MX4 with 32/64 GB, please! They only need to change the design leaving the chin clear from the home button, that’s all. The hardware is good enough, though it’d be great a MTK6795 + 4 GB RAM + 128 GB eMMC…
The UI on that looks really gorgeous.
Deja vu all over again. MWC 2014…MX3…coming soon…well, we’re all only one year closer to the grave; just take your time Canonical.
