Lenovo drew quite a lot of flak for making the S90 iPhone 6 lookalike, but they weren’t the only company to be inspired by the latest-gen iPhone.
We’ve seen a flurry of MT6732 and MT6752 phones being announced of late, which happen to be competitors to phones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615. While many, including we at GizChina, have lauded the latest-gen MediaTek chipsets, some still prefer to go the Snapdragon route. The Blade S6 from ZTE comes with the Snapdragon 615, and isn’t very expensive at US$250 (shipped, in most cases) with 2GB of RAM.
Other specifications of the phone include a 5-inch display with a 1280 x 720p resolution, 16GB on-board storage along with microSD expansion, a 13 mega-pixel rear camera, a 5 mega-pixel front camera and lastly a 2400mAh battery that sits inside the unibody iPhone 6-like frame.
Gizchina News of the week
We’ve tested a couple of MT6732 and MT6752 powered phones in the Elephone P6000 (review coming soon!) and JiaYu S3, and found them to be quite a handful, each in its own right. But with the mid-range battle between Qualcomm and MediaTek heating up at the speed of naughts, it’s really a good (yet confusing) time to purchase a decent, inexpensive smartphone.
Which one would you go for, between the MT6732/6752 and the Snapdragon 615 and why? Do let us know in the comments section below. The latter, i.e., the ZTE Blade S6 can be had via reseller Gearbest for US$250, plus a coupon code “GBZTES6” can be applied for a US$15.99 discount.
I think its sales might be negatively affected by ZTE’s own Nubia Z7 mini, which comes with much better specs at only a slightly higher retail price…
And talking about the MT6732/6752 competition, I’m pretty shocked by the outcome of the MT6752 vs. Snapdragon 615 comparison, that’s top listed on GizChina’s trending topics.
Trust me the z7 mini has his problems on his own, I’m one of the fools that purchased one, that phone is nothing but problems.
Nubia Z7 mini is a last year phone with a last year cpu. Even if it’s more powerful, it’s still not compatible with 64bits computing.
People going for ZTE Blade 6 are ones wanting a decent price with a trendy look and ultimately more futureproofing.
I bought the ZTE Blade 6 because all of that and past experience with mediatek chipsets.
