Gionee Elife S7 is 5.2-inch, 5.5mm MT6752 phone

Gionee have received TENAA approval for their new slim phone, and while it isn’t as thin as we had hoped it still loss rather promising.

There are a few details I really do like about the Gionee Elife S7, first of all it is thin but not silly thin, we’re talking about a 5.5mm device which weighs only 126.5g and has a respectable 2700mAh batter. I also like the fact the S7 has a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 13 mega-pixel rear and 8 mega-pixel front cameras and a fabulous MT6752 chipset.

Gizchina News of the week

The dimensions (148.8 × 72.4 × 5.5mm) remind me of a slimmer, more compact Vivo Xshot and we have seen from the E7 that Gionee know how to make a decent camera phone. Measuring 5.5mm is also thick enough to allow for a Super AMOLED display, 3.5mm headphone jack and SD card slot.

I’ve never owned a Gionee, but I might be tempted by the Elife S7. What do you think of the specs?

Why do they go back to generic apple copy design when they have such a good design on Elife S5.5 and S5.1 etc? Very disappointing looks imo

You didn’t know Apple was the only one who made square phones with rounded edges?

Actually I probably am, no idea why I said that.
I do think their older phones look better, though.

I’d rather say it mimics the Honor 6, if at all it does.

Over $200 isn’t expensive for a phone with good mid range specs like this has.

Yes, you’re right, but it’s over my budget. I’m considering two options at this moment. Buying an older flagship like Meizu MX3, Gionee elife E7 or something new like Jiayu S3 Meizu m1. The Gionee elife S7 could be an option if the price is right.

If you can live without LTE the E7 is one of the best bargains you can get today. It has flagship specs (Snapdragon 800, 3GB of RAM) and one of the best cameras available. But the best part is they just slashed the price on it and you can now find it for $189, sometimes even cheaper.

Assuming 2 or 3 gb RAM and 16 gb ROM, this sounds like the perfect specs for me. If the price is in line with other mtk6752 phones then I definitely want one.

super AMOLED -seems a fantastic phone. single flash wasnt a proplem in low light in the Elife e7? shouldve maybe had dual flash in this model i think though. any mention of what sensor brand is used? Im sure as mentioned the camera with not disappoint either way. However with the price expected $400 maybe? It has much competition with other flagships with great camera so best wait for reviews. if it available closer to the $300 mark then i will be very much tempted to purchase.

lets sees who is correct? i think you were being naive thinking gionee will sell a phone for <$300, i really expect $400+. though we can hope for less since the elife E8 is coming too and that is the flagship so might keep s7 price down.

well, i am just comparing it to m1 note and s3 which have almost the same specs. Of course, the slimmer design and better camera are going to cost more, but if its more than 300$ it is going to be really overpriced in my opinion.

Well you were right its 400euros, but I really think even samsung could come with better pricing :D.
Asking for the double price of avarage mtk6752 phone is just outrages for chinese manufacturer.

Impressive stuff. This phone has the third lowest Portability Index I’ve ever seen: 102.67. Portability Index formula: (volume[mm^3]/screen size[in]) * (weight[g]/screen size[in]) / battery[mAh]. For the record, here are the three phones with the best Portability Index of all the phones I have on record (the lower the better):

    1. Vivo Xplay 5S – 93.81
    2. Gionee Elife S5.1 – 100.38
    3. Gionee Elife S7 – 102.67
