Asus Zenfone 2 gets over 50,000 points on Antutu

The Asus Zenfone 2 was one of the big surprises of CES, with an Intel chipset and 2GB RAM and low price it promises killer performance and Antutu scores to some way to prove it.

Antutu scores have been frequently hitting the high 40,000’s since last year, with some devices managing to get a score in the low 50,000 points. There aren’t many phones that can get more than 50,000 in Antutu, but Asus can now join that exclusive group with their Asus Zenfone 2.

Looking over the benchmarks which show an incredible score of 50,401 points, we can see that it is the Intel powered version of the phone that achieved the score. The Intel version, which runs a 2.33Ghz Intel Atom Z3580 chip and 2GB RAM , is only one version of the Zenfone 2 that will go on sale. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and even Mediatek versions of the phone will also launch too.

A 50,401 point Antutu score is very good, but as the Zenfone 2 only has to push around the pixels on a 5-inch HD display, it really does have an advantage over 1080 and QHD phones. Still an impressive score none the less.

Well the only problem with this is that manufaturers know everyone benchmarks with Antutu and they cheat.
It’s probably still a very good performing phone but maybe Asus cheated a bit here to reach such a high Antutu score.

Great performance no doubt.
But I’m very skeptical that we’ll even see this combination of components in the market. I can’t see Asus selling the Z3580 cpu in a model with only a 720p screen. And I don’t think any of the 5″ screen models will get the top cpu either. So I think this is a specially constructed testing mule just to see the performance possibilities.
Still, even the Z3560, 2gb ram, 5.5″ 720p model will satisfy a lot of people, myself included, and get around 40,000 on Antutu benchmark. Excellent performance/$.

Great performance no doubt.
But I’m very skeptical that we’ll even see this combination of components in the market. I can’t see Asus selling the Z3580 cpu in a model with only a 720p screen. And I don’t think any of the 5″ screen models will get the top cpu either. So I think this is a specially constructed testing mule just to see the performance possibilities.
Still, even the Z3560, 2gb ram, 5.5″ 720p model will satisfy a lot of people, myself included, and get around 40,000 on Antutu benchmark. Excellent performance/$.

look at battery% and time…it drain 4% ber 14 minutes…. 17,14% per hour …..its nearly 6hours on-screen-time…. its much better than zenfone5 🙂

      You blame the website but not the seller? lol good one, also if you did open a dispute you got a free Mi4 clone and your £260 back.
      I don’t see how buying from aliexpress can be bad, I got 8 fake u8 smartwatch for free, a fake Red Rice 1s for $12 dollars (I got the phone price back minus the shipping cost and got to keep the fake one).
      Buying at aliexpress is always a good experience.

    It’s definetly a good phone, but a little bit expensive for me. The only cons ofthe OPO are just the non detechable battery and you should buy the 64gb version of it.

      Yes the 64 G of RAM is OK But it looks like there are no detachable batteries any more except for the Note 4 at a whooping $700.00. Just learned of Galaxy 6, no detachable battery and no memory card but the price will be way up. No, Thanks. I will have to decide between Zenfone2 w/t 64g, 4G ($440) and OnePlus, 64g ($349). Now I am OK with my Nexus5. It works fine, 14 months.

If the battery holds I might end up buying this, Intel’s CPU is way better than the A53, GPU is also better than the G6200 in the MT6595.

  MT6795’s and Atom Z3580’s single core CPU performances are roughly equal. MT6595 way better than both.

    I think Intel have done great, their CPU is 4 cores less and is on the same level in the multicore performance, although the 6795 destroys it, due to the newer A53 and A57.

The problem with these lesser known phone brands is they often get killer Antutu scores but then totally bomb in other benchmarking apps while a flagship from the top dogs will benchmark fantasically (consistently) across the entire range of benchmarking apps.

  Since when is Asus a lesser known brand? Their tablets have consistently peformed well on in all benchmarks. The Phonepad outperformed the Nexus 7 (2013), Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy Tab 4 in every single benchmark that Phonearena did.

      I guess we have different opinions on the term lesser known. I would consider Doogee a lesser known brand. Asus may not have the pedigree of Huawei when it comes to phones but they aren’t exactly unknown. Even so the benchmarking is the same for phones at is for tablets, and Asus makes some of the best Android tablets.

      I have the original Nexus 7 and it still runs beautifully. Never had a single problem with it. Asus has been making budget to midrange phones for quite some time now. I have never actually used them but they usually get pretty good reviews.

  With half of the apps shouln’t be a battery or performance problem. Other half will drain the battery faster, run slower.

There is no sense in having a FHD or QHD display if the screen size is below 5.2″. Till date I have been unable to find the difference. I have a s3, a Xiaomi mi3 and my brother has a Note 4. I don’t see any difference in sharpness, even on the browser. maybe it depends on eyes and sensitivity. The only think I hope is to see a note 4 like specs on a 720p display. Think about the performance and battery gain.

Before all you guys start going gaga over the Antutu points and the comparisons between the Atom Z3580, SD 810 and the MT6795, you should all consider the fact that the Android Lollipop was actually developed using the Intel x86-64 SoC which should make this SoC somewhat better performing in everyday use that the ARM SoCs.
Also, consider the fact that you all are comparing a Quad (4) Core SoC (Z3580) with Octa (8) Core SoCs (MT6795 and SD 810) and yet the Quad is putting up with the Octas. Isnt that a feat on its own? I think that this is going to be a very snappy device considering that Intel implements HyperThreading Tech (HTT) which should also really help the SoC with Multitasking and handling heavy Apps. (Just like in the desktop CPUs [Quad i7 for one])
My only problem will be the battery performance. If thats good too, I am definitely buying the 5.5″ 4GB version.

Recently bought the 2GB ram, 16GB on-board, 720p 5.5″ display version and coupled this with a 64GB UHS-1 SD card.
Connectivity is through TDD-LTE (4g)…download on a good day is 84Mb/s. At home…WiFi through fibre. 25 up and down.
Antutu score for this low end device was
43433. Beats the 37k for the iPhone 5 and the 36k for the LG’s G3 (3GB version).
Your reporting of a score of 50k plus must be for the 4GB of ram ZenFone 2.
Current Samsung flagship devices are scoring 63k plus.
