Doogee bring Android Lollipop to the quad-core MT6582 in DG700

doogee dg700

If you are one of the few owners of the newer Doogee Titans 2 business smartphone, then get to your PC now and download the Android 5.0 update right away!

The Doogee Titans 2, aka DG700, is described by Doogee as their ‘business smartphone’. What they mean by that is they have gone to great lengths to give the device a similar ‘high end’ appearance to luxury Lamborghini and Vertu phones.

Featuring a chunky CNC’s body, leather look rear and rugged features including high and low temperature operation, shock resistant screen and iP67 certification, it is surely one of the more luxurious looking rugged phones on the market.

Gizchina News of the week

Out of the box the DG700 Titans 2 runs Android 4.4.2 on a quad-core 1.3Ghz processor with 1GB RAM, but to sweeten the phone somewhat an official Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM has been released and available for download now. The update is a manual one rather than OTA so you will need to follow the instructions and download Android 5 for the Doogee DG700 here.

Doogee bringing Android 5.0 Lollippop to their quad-core MT6582 phone is great news for owners of other devices with the same chip, who can now cross their fingers and hope for Lollipop to come their way soon too.

No, you can see Galaxy S4, Note 3, S5 receiving Lollipop and they aren’t 64Bits.

This was a commercial catch that 5.0 and above would only be available only for 64 bit devices, that might was destroyed a month later when all sort of companies started to announce Lollipop support for their old S400 and S80x devices.

6582 and lollipop that’s a new one. I still have my toughts if this ROM comes from official sources or by porting another ROM. Do we have any news that mediatek will give Android 5.0 sources for the MT65XX series?

That’s really nice, with this Rom the MTK6582 and perhaps the MTK6592 still in the game lol

The MT6582 would ans should be on the game for at least one more year, the SoC is powerful and chip enough for $80-$100 phones, I used a DG580 for 3 months and the only thing I missed from my main phone was the camera, I did not miss the extra RAM, or a more powerful SoC, the MT6582 on a low resolution gets shit done in a snappy way.

Pretty legit. I have a iNew V3 and still is one of the best chinese phones I had. The hardware still running fine, now there are bigger batteries from the phone. (On the launch has 1830mAh, now we have 2300mAh to buy) and the phone have NFC. I hope iNew release Lollipop for it.

IT would be great if the 6592 got Lollipop, the chip is quite snappy and now being budget range i`ll take it any day over the Snapdragon 410.

The tool and instructions didn’t work had to use SPFT. At least updating to Lollilpop killed the most ugly Doogee theme. But no factory reset protection aka kill switch, the rest seems pretty much default with all the gesture mode still there.

Doogee is advertising the Kill Switch, are you sure the provided ROM doesn’t have it?

I want to upgrade a family member DG700, but I guess I will wait until someone upload a video since you claim that the instruction provided with the download didn’t work.

You can easily use SP Flash Tool because all the required files are there and I used a YT video about flashing the DG800. In the instructions from Doogee I get stuck on the scan action.

The kill switch should be under Settings – Security. If you go the Doogee page there is a video about Lollipop on the DG700. The guy in the video is only talking about the kill switch not showing it. But then again the option also doesn’t show up on my Nexus 7 2013 either.

Funy, I tried for 2 hours with SPFT with no positive results, so I tried with the provided tool be Doogee and flashed it with no issues at the first try.
