Gionee teases it’s Elife S7 hours ahead of MWC launch

We’ve talked about the Gionee Elife S7 in the past. The phone from the prolific Chinese OEM promises to be a powerhouse thanks to the MT6752 processor it packs (also seen on the Siswoo Cooper i7), and a looker at the same time thanks to its purported 5.5mm thick frame.

Gionee has been quite active on the worlds thinnest smartphone war, with a the Elife S5.5 and later, the Elife S5.1 smartphones. In fact, the Blu Vivo Air, marketed as the thinnest phone available in the US, is also believed to be manufactured by Gionee; it shares its numbers and design one-to-one with the Elife S5.1. Take a look at the teaser here (Facebook).

Gizchina News of the week

Besides the aforementioned, what we know about the Elife S7 is that it’ll have a 5.2-inch display (with a 1920 x 1080p resolution), which will most likely be a Super AMOLED panel. The phone is also supposed to measure 148.8 × 72.4 × 5.5mm and weigh an impressive 126.5 g. Somehow, Gionee (reportedly) have also managed to fit in a 2700mAh battery in the slender frame. A 13 mega-pixel rear camera, and an 8 mega-pixel front shooter are expected to power the Elife S7 on the camera front.

How’s the Elife S7 shaping up for you?

Great specs! Optimum screen size and resolution. Battery should be fine given the mt6752 SOC. If the cameras are decent and they have managed a premium feel on the design then I will be very interested.

Gionee uses Omnivision sensors in most of their phones and they are usually good to excellent. The camera on the E7 was one of the best available last year.

Hey Balco, could you help me?

I’ve owned a couple of Mediatek dual sim phones so I’m familiar of how they work.

With the 4G models, is the second sim still GSM or is the second sim WDCMA?

I am actually not sure on this, I honestly never use both sim slots as I have a separate phone for work.

how is this to compare with the E7 which is now dropped in price

The E7 was their flagship phone last year. The S7 is the replacement for the S5.1 which is more of a mid range phone. The E8 will be the phone comparable to the E7.

I hesitate between the Elife 7 and the Jiuya S3 both compareable price.
Only the S3 has the newer software

I wouldn’t base it on software alone. I would base it on how it performs with the software it has.

that’s a fact, but i can’t compare the two devices to see what their capability is . Read that the 4.3 rom from the E7 is a little bit crappy

The Blu Vivo Air is manufactured by Gionee. As are most of Blu’s Android phones. Here is what Blu’s CEO said earlier this year when asked about Gionee:

“Gionee India is a subsidiary of the Gionee parent company in China. This is a great partnership, where Gionee and BLU are able to co-develop exciting products together and obtain large volumes for production by leveraging our strength in different sales territories. By uniting BLU’s sales strength in the Western Hemisphere with Gionee’s sales strength in the East such as China and India, our combined efforts allow us to source and secure the best components and technologies available in the world today, which otherwise would have not been possible.”

I am guessing it will be around $200 which is what the 5.1 it’s replacing is sold for.

148.8 mm????? Sorry Gionee.. 141-142 would be just ok.

The S5.5 was 145.1 mm with a 5 inch display, 148 sounds about right for a 5.2 inch display.
