While browsing the Gionee stand I was surprised to see that IUNI were also present and had their new IUNI U3 Mini on show.
The IUNI U3 Mini is the 3rd Android smartphone from Gionee’s internet based phone brand. Based on the design of the IUNI U3, the Mini has a smaller 5.2-inch display and ditches on-screen controls for buttons located below the sceen on the chin.
A smaller display also doesn’t require the same 2K resolution as the 5.5-inch flagship, so resolution has been reduced to only 1920 x 1080.
Gizchina News of the week
Full specs weren’t available to me while I was at the stand as the IUNI staff were away for lunch. I was able to learn that the phone has a 13 megapixel rear camera with single LED flash and that IUNI plan to launch the U3 Mini on sale via the internet to a few international markets but we will have to wait to learn which.
MINI 5,2″ kidding me want some phones with 4,5″ or 4,7″
It looks funny, but it is called “mini” when compared to a “normal” IUNI U3, which is 5,5″ device.
yeah, not sure how is 0.3″ difference compared to standard version making it mini
you can still go for IUNI U2 with 4.7″ if you don’t mind little bit lower specs and missing 4G, otherwise still nice phone for 1000-1100RMB
what does display size matter? o.O its the phone size that is important ^^ although i expect a stb ratio of 74~ %
wasn’t “mini” meant for something small? next year “mini” will be 6 inches!
Well, it is “mini” compared to a “normal” IUNI U3, which is 5,5″ device.
0.3 inches IMHO are not enough to justify the “mini” attribute. Compact would have been a better choice… but an even better would have been making it 4.5-4.7 inches and calling it a day!
Mini, compact, micro it doesn’t really matter what they call it, its a marketing buzz word. Overall the demand for phones under 5 inches isn’t that great in the two countries this will sell the most in (China and India).
You are absolutely right, Mr.Balcobomber. I am from India and here first time android users also want big scrren mobiles. I hope gionee launches IUNI mobiles in India also because the first two have not arrived here till now.
I’m surprised Gionee won’t sell those in India. India is Gionee’s biggest market.
its true.. i have NEVER owned a 5.5 inch phone..
i would LOVE to get my hands on a 5.5-6 inch Phablet ! 😀
where to search for it? only found it for 400+$ which is more expensive, than the u3 .:)
search at efox shop, it’s called there iuni u4 and the price ~310EUR
This device is fantastic! What will be its price? Where can I find it?
it should be around $200!
6 optical zoom?!
I am not sure about that……
it’s Chinese company, so what do you expect from specs? I hope not truth…
It would make sense with a Mediatek processor and lower price but why would anyone chose this over the U3?
