Just about a year back, the first 2K aka QHD aka 1440p (2560 x 1440p) screens started shipping on phones such as the Vivo Xplay 3S, and later, the OPPO Find 7 and LG G3.
Earlier today, an HTC phone — the HTC E9 — showed up at the Chinese equivalent of the FCC, i.e., TENAA. According to the listing, the phone will have a 5.5-inch display with a massive 2660 x 1440 pixel display, along with an unspecified octa-core processor with a clock of 2GHz… which we presume will be the MediaTek MT6795 which we’ve been eagerly waiting for.
Gizchina News of the week
Other than that, the phone will have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage, along with an SD card slot that can work with up to 128GB of microSD. From the model number — E9 — it is clear that the phone will be succeeding the HTC E8, but unlike the E8, the E9 doesn’t seem to share specifications with the current gen M-series flagship, the M9.
Lastly, the phone will run Android 5.0 Lollipop and weigh 150 grams. A Gold variant will be offered along with White and Black ones, so the E9 will have pretty much every taste covered with the color variants.

Hi Yash, thank you for the article. I want to buy a new phone but
can’t decide which one to buy. My budget is 250€ and I am looking for a device with a screen size between 4.7 and 5 inch.
Devices list:
– IUNI U3 Mini (apparently it will be sold at 1999 Yuan in China, I guess
that the price will be higher for international buyers)
– THL 2015 (a great phone at a good price)
– Siswoo Cooper i7 (amazing device for the price from a brand new company with no track record…what’s your feelings about the phone? worth to buy or not)
– ZTE Blade S6 (much powerful cpu comparing to Redmi 2)
– Redmi 2 Pro (which is sold around $190)
Any advice will be welcome! Thanks.
Yan
Below $200 for MT6795 phone with 2K resolution display, 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM? Are you nuts? Can you purchase a Snapdragon 810 phone at that same price? Yes we all want cheap phones but not to the point of asking for stupidly low price for flagship grade devices. By all means, MT6795 is not a mid or low range SoC.
You might as well ask Samsung to sell their Galaxy S6 for $200.
This device doesn’t stand a chance in a flagship price range because is not aesthetically appealing.
Look at the MI note, we know it doesn’t worth that kind of money but is so darn premium beautiful built.
Conclusion:to spend top dolas, put everything in it and built it deliciously,not golden bulky plastic crap.
I know that the device has to appeal with its looks and all. But still, the device is not ugly. Its the typical HTC design. Besides, they can still make chages to the design youare seeing now before the final product.
Even if it ships the way it looks now, it definitely doesnt deserve a $200 price point. Maybe its better to make a super beautiful phone with whacky hardware and call it premium while selling it for huge $$$.
C’mon man, you are thinking like a woman.
This is my dream scenario from a cheapskate point of view:
Korean=top of the line launch for 600 in 2 months = 400
Chinese =top of the line launch 450 in 3 months below 300 = big like
Established brand = mid range semi crap launch for 399 = eat sh1t and die
Chinese = mid-low 6752/3gb launch below 200 in 1 month below 150 = everybody gets decent device.
They did, it’s called the M9 you dolt.
I have shortlisted midrange smartphones like Honor 6 plus, Mi note or pro, Zenfone 2 which will be the best ? I watched video of camera test that Zenfone 2 beats iphone 6, Honor 6 plus beats iphone 6, Mi note also beats iphone 6 ? I am confused which one to buy and also customer reviews say’s that Mi 4 has a heating issue. Does Mi note heat so much as Mi4?
