Chinese phone maker Doogee are preparing a replacement to their popular Valencia model. Here are the first details of the Doogee Velencia 2.
Doogee jumped on to the scene and made great progress when they first started it. The brand pounced on the market at a time when Zopo were struggling, but since their initial success the brand seems to be treading water and not really making any progress.
At MWC we saw a couple of new Doogee devices, and although we were told they were for the entry-level market, the specifications still seemed a little on the low side when compared to devices from Elephone, and even JiaYu.
Gizchina News of the week
The Doogee Valencia 2 seems to be stuck in the same rut and according to GizChina.es will feature an octacore MT6592M SoC, around 1GB RAM and possibly a qHD display.
At this point in the Chinese smartphone industry we should be looking at $120 smartphones with 64bit MT6732 processors and at least 2GB RAM, devices like we are seeing from Elephone. If Doogee continue to fall behind the competition how long can they expect to survive?
Their build is very good. not like Elephone’s. The screen I`m fine with, but they had to put 2gb of RAM in there to make it competitive.
Build quality is very good. Customer service and support is non existent. I have never received an OTA update in the 4 months I have owned a Doogee. And my Sim/SD card reader broke after two months, neither the seller or Doogee will take responsibility for it. They both blame each other and I am left with a phone that can’t be used as a phone.
My GF uses Pixels350 model for over a year now, has maybe dropped it like 50 times, and it`s still working perfectly. Always go with pandawill or 1949 for the devices, never had any problem with them(must have ordered more than 15 phones by now). Other sites I hear are selling lots of defective goods. From my personal experience Jiayu is above all the rest(excluding the big three Chinese brands). You can`t go wrong with a Jiayu device, although their support service is also practically non existent.
I like Xiaomi and THL the best. Have owned 3 THL’s and 3 Xiaomi’s and never had any major issues with either.
right there is the reason why canI never truly recommend a Chinese phone to a friend or why even I sometimes will go with an overpriced brand. There is no point in buying a phone for a third of the price of the so-call premium brand you need to buy three in a year. Unfortunately quality Chinese brands like Xiaomi aren’t really represented here in Europe so even those phones are a gamble when you import them.
I have owned a few Xiaomi phones and have never had any major issues with them. The one time I did have a minor issue with the battery Xiaomi sent me a new one, all I had to pay was the cost of shipping and I live in a country that isn’t officially supported by them.
So it’s like I said even if I know it’s quality Chinese brand the fact that it isn’t represented here brings a whole bag of different problems.
Moj Davide ja u BiH u radnji mogu uzet: Xiaomi S1 za 250KM, redme note LTE (2GB RAM) za 330KM ali nekako su Elephone P6000 za 375KM (130 US$ EU wearhouse) i Jiayu S3 (basic) za 440KM bolja kupovina. 😉
That’s odd, the DG580 and DG310 get a OTA update like every 2-3 weeks, and the new DG280 already received a OTA a week ago, also they updated their 4.3 phones to 4.4, I have no complaints about software updates from Doogee, also they accept their bugs unlike THL that just keeps their mouth shout and sometimes they fix the bugs and sometimes they just ignore them, for example the THL T6 Pro version 166H stills reboots every few hours and THL has not said a word about the problem, they just released a new version of the phone 166L and forgot about the owners of the 166H version.
The DG2014 I have shipped with Kit Kat and has never had an OTA update. The 2 THL phones I owned each had multiple updates and their customer service was excellent.
That’s true, no Doogee phone feels cheap on the hand or has bad quality(besides the screen that are actually below average).
But Doogee neeeds to get with the times, or if they want to keep using old SoC’s they need to release their phones below the $100 mark and they will be fine.
But trust me my customers could careless if the phone I’m selling them has a 64bit Quad core or a 32bit Quad core, they just want a phone that works flawlessly and as cheap as possible, and Doogee does that.
Not everyone is a tech enthusiast that knows the difference between qHD and FHD, or MT6582 vs MT6732, most of them do understand that 2GB is better than 1GB, but 1GB seems a lot for most people, since i’m from a developing country were carriers still bundle phones with 256MB of RAM and 256MB ROM on their low budget mobil plans.
