Microsoft have revealed that it will be working with Xiaomi in China to test Windows 10 with the help of Xiaomi Mi4 owners!
Just as Meizu have adopted Ubuntu on their MX4, Xiaomi are now working on bring a new OS to their devices, but something on a little larger scale. At an event held in Shenzhen, Microsoft revealed that they plan to release Windows 10 in 190 countries in 111 languages and for the Chinese market have teamed up with Lenovo, Tencent and Qihoo 360.
More than though is the fact that Microsoft has announced that one of its major partners in China will be Xiaomi! For Microsoft to work with Xiaomi is pretty huge news and potentially very exciting for owners of the Xiaomi Mi4 who will have the opportunity to download Windows 10 for their smartphones.
Gizchina News of the week
We assume the download will be free and limited to a number of beta testers. Microsoft will be asking testers for feedback on how to improve the OS before a final launch. It will be very interesting to see just how fast Xiaomi will be able to get a stable version of Windows 10 released for their phones, after waiting for well over a year for Ubuntu to arrive on the MX4 (and still in beta) at MWC earlier this month.

Not really true.
Xiaomi has nothing really to do with this, it’s all M$, they are making a ROM and letting a few users test it
Tech in Asia had this statement from Xiaomi:
“This is an experimental program entirely led by Microsoft, working directly with select members of our Xiaomi fan community in China. Microsoft will create a custom build of Windows 10 and provide it to select Mi 4 power users who are already familiar with re-flashing their devices with custom ROMs.This is not a commercial partnership announcement and Xiaomi continues to fully embrace the Android ecosystem through our MIUI software platform.”
Hardware is never an issue. It all comes down to software optimization for you device and that depends on the manufacturers.
