Meizu MX4 Pro gets Lollipop via Flyme 5.0, but there’s a catch

Meizu sort of reinvented themselves with the launch of the MX4 last September, and then followed it up with the launch of the MX4 Pro later in 2014. What’s new was that Meizu was really looking to make an impression on the global market than just the domestic Chinese market.

While the phones in themselves were highly impressive (as the MX4 and MX4 Pro reviews suggest), potential and existing users worried about timely Android updates… or rather, the lack of them. It turns out Meizu has released an Android Lollipop based Flyme 5.0 ROM for the higher-end Meizu MX4 Pro, but only to ‘Panda Knights‘, aka beta testers for Meizu.

This means that the ROM should get into the public beta stage soon, so if you’re an MX4 Pro user, expect to get the taste of Flyme 5.0 very soon. What all improvements/bugs the ROM brings with it isn’t clear yet, but the coming few weeks should tell us more about Flyme 5.0 on the MX4 Pro. seems like Xiaomi are taking forever , i haven’t seen lollipop mentioned in any post or article , is it even happenning ?
I’m starting to like Meizu and flyme more and more, they are adding useful things and streamling at the same time , MIUI hasnt really added anything special new since miui v4 , v5 was just a streamline of v4, hardly anything new in ages.

I believe Flyme is getting better in each update. At the moment I am using the test 4.2.5A firmware to see the new changes and I really enjoy them.
The rumours with Nokia are getting more valid as time passes (new power-saving mode Nokia style?) which makes the things even better.
I hope by the end of this month or the start of the new one MX4 PRO, MX4 and m1 note will get lollipop, as I don’t think that they will any device behind in the end. They are just going slow, I can tell that, but after the new test firmware I am using, I think they are heading towards the right direction.

I feel there is always a catch with Meizu. They mainly focus on domestic market and doesn’t care too much about foreigners customers. Chinese firmwares are updated every weeks but the international one is 3 month old now. Its like once their firmware is stable enough, they release it and then stop worrying about . I experienced the same thing with the mx3. Updates was really delayed compared to the chinese one. I think it shows a lot about Meizu’s priorities.
