Xiaomi have been making some undercover tests for an upcoming smartphone named simply as the “Xiaomi Ferrari”.
Xiaomi are back in the spotlight again this morning. After releasing a $320 version of their popular MiTV 2 in China, a new mystery phone from the company has also been found testing over on Geekbench.
The internal name for the new model is the “Xiaomi Ferrari”, as Ferrari’s are generally thought of as red cars we can assume that this might be another addition to the Xiaomi Redmi range.
Gizchina News of the week
The Geekbench test reveals the performance of the phone, and also gives us a sneak peak at the specifications. The details tell us a Snapdragon 615 SoC has been chosen to power the Ferrari. We can also make out 2GB RAM, Android 5.0 Lollipop, 1080 display, and no NFC.
The size of the display is listed at 4.9-inch, making it slightly larger than the current Redmi 2, but smaller than the Redmi Note. Are you excited about a sub 5.5-inch, SD615 powered Xiaomi phone?
But didn’t xiaomi stop making mediatek phones? So I’ll doubt well see another one.
Well, for that matter this “Ferrari” should at least be fitted with a snapdragon 810 soc.
Judging by the fact they are using a 615 this is intended to be a mid range phone to slot in between the Redmi 2 and Mi4. Using an 810 wouldn’t make sense.
With their purchase of Leadcore we probably won’t see an MTK Xiaomi for some time, unless they ditch Qualcomm.
reseller value likely over $200, my prediction this will be a 999Yuan phone
I would say the $200-225 mark is where this will be slated. A midrange option between the Redmi and Mi.
