Xiaomi’s latest MiTV isn’t a next generation model as we had expected but a low-cost 40inch flat screen retailing for just 1999 Yuan!
Xiaomi’s Android TV’s have been a drool worthy piece of kit ever since the launched, and with low pricing they have been a device many Chinese tech fans have wanted to own. Today a new addition to the MiTV family was launched, but not a next generation TV as rumoured.
Gizchina News of the week
The new Xiaomi MiTV is aimed at an even more affordable price bracket with a retail price of just 1999 Yuan in China ($320). This version of the MiTV 2 boasts a 40-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) display, 1.1Ghz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, and ships with Android 4.4. Xiaomi also state that an Android 5 Lollipop update will be along soon.
Our only issue with the Xiaomi MiTV 2 is that it will be very difficult to ship one out of China without incurring huge shipping and TAX fees. Fingers crossed we will see an official international launch soon.
