Elephone update the P3000 to MT6752 and 3GB RAM

elephone p3000s mt6752

Elephone’s long running Elephone P3000s has been updated once again! This latest model is shipping with a 64bit MT6752 chipset at the same $200 price tag.

The Elephone P3000 has been available in one guise or another for a very long time now, and it continues to get hardware updates. Elephone have released the latest (greatest?) version of the Elephone P3000S for pre-order and while it retains the same fingerprint scanner and design as the original, the new model also boasts a more powerful MT6752 processor, 3GB RAM and LTE support. The display has also been updated from a standard HD panel to a FHD 1920 x 1080 unit.

Elephone are also offering a $5 discount to anyone who plans to pre-order the updated phone, reducing the cost to $194.99.  The large battery P5000 has also been reduced to $199.99 with free DHL international shipping taking around 5 days to get to the EU.

“MT6752 processor, 3GB RAM” is nice to hear about, but if they didn’t exchanged the poor camera quality into a better one although this version of an Elephone is still not the right one for me.

From my experience with Chinese phones, the OV cameras seem to outperform their Sony counterparts. Whether this is down to the sensors not being as good or poor software (in which case it would affect the OV sensor?) I don’t know but having a Sony camera means bugger all when it comes to camera quality.

so ure saying your experience with OV cameras has been better in chinese phones ?

Yes, got a pipo t8 which I believe has an ov sensor and have to say it had the best camera I’ve used on a phone. Even in a completely black room it takes crystal clear images with virtually no noise, am supremely impressed and much better than any Sony equipped device I’ve used.

One of the best camera’s offered on a phone was the one in the Gionee E7, that was an OV sensor. In fact most Gionee units take excellent pictures with OV sensors.

Unfortunately Chinese manufacturers seem obsessed with the phrase ‘Sony camera’, if it doesn’t use one then generally nothing is mentioned and the only way to know which sensor is being used is to strip the phone down.

Most Chinese phones have awful cameras, what do you expect a 99$ phone with a 50$ camera sensor? Phones over 150$ get usable cameras, but you have to search for a review before buying any phones in general. IF you want a great camera on a phone go buy a 1020 Lumia, or a Samsung Zoom.

Look no further than the Jiayu G4s then, it’s still on sale. Under 200 are also the Meizu Note and Xiaomi Redmi 2(not great, but really usable camera and only 135 USD). Lenovo Vibe X2 is on sale at 200. There’s plenty of phones with great cameras under 200$.

Gionee E7 can be bought from Gearbest special for $160. Phone still very good (no LTE),

LTE is just a hype, 3G internet is plenty fast for a laptop even. With 16GB of storage on most devices you can`t download anything huge with that fast internet, even if you wanted to.

I disagree with that statement. I have used plenty of Chinese phones and can only think of a few which had anything close to an awful camera. In fact most Chinese phones today use the same exact cameras that are found in every other phone from other countries. If you want a great camera on a phone go buy a Vivo Xshot or Meizu Mx4.

I’m still shocked of how much the price has drooped on phones in just few months, 4 months ago you needed to pay $350+ for a phone with such specs, and now the price is nearly half.

OV or SONY, doesn’t matter. What’s important is optimization ie software side of things

If you buy a phone like this you almost have to root it and use a custom ROM. The good thing is as these phone become more popular more custom ROM’s are being ported to them.
