UMi are set to drop the hammer and release a new smartphone on the 20th April! Here are details of UMi’s first LTE smartphone.
Currently UMi have been largely focussing on their UMi Zero phone, and their new earphones. The Zero is a great looking, and well made phone, but many have wondered why UMi haven’t updated the chipset in the device to a newer 64bit SoC to add LTE support? It’s a valid question, but one that seems to be going unanswered, however if an LTE UMi phone is what you are after you are still in luck.
Over on the UMi Facebook teasers have been posted for a new device named the UMi Hammer. Our sources at UMi have confirmed that the Hammer will running a quad-core 64bit MT6732 chipset offering 4G LTE, but the main feature of the phone is its rugged build.
Although it doesn’t look like your standard rubberized rugged phone, the UMi Hammer has been designed to take a beating on a daily basis. UMi have assured us that the screen, chassis and overall structure of the UMi Hammer have been throughly tested (and yes with a hammer) to offer the best build possible.
We are still waiting on the final details but we know that the Hammer will be priced competitively and will come in a number of bright colours. The UMi Hammer will officially be launched on the 20th April so keep posted.
