IUNI, a company well-known for their products like the all-aluminum bodied IUNI U2 and the beastly IUNI U3, has officially announced a new smartphone called the IUNI i1. The phone appears to have specifications similar to those of the IUNI U3 Mini, except that the IUNI i1 is marketed with female users in mind as can be seen from the promo pictures and features.
The phone has a 5.2-inch 1080p screen with 2.5D curved glass. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, has 2GB of RAM, 32GB of (probably not expandable) storage, a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera and a 3000mAh battery. Specification-wise, it’s similar to most flagships from last year like the Xiaomi Mi4. Where this phone differs however is in the feature department.
As far as female oriented features go, the device will have a self-timer beauty mode, which will enhance the face by doing some tricks like face-lifting, whitening, giving a big eye effect (popular in Asia), softening etc. The device will also have a “15 seconds beauty video”, though I honestly have no idea what it’s supposed to do. The IUNI i1 will also have face recognition capabilities and the front camera will supposedly have lossless zoom, though I don’t quite understand how that’s possible.
Software wise, the phone will be equipped with IUNI’s proprietary IUNI OS, which will have “zero bloatware” except for the female oriented feature. The phone will come in two colours, a light pink and a subtle white. The phone will also have a magnesium alloy frame which should help the device feel more solid.
In addition, there will be two retail versions. One will be IUNI i1 Lite, which will cost 1999 Yuan and the more expensive version that will come with some extras that include jewelry box packaging and some valuable accessories for females. The items will go on sale tomorrow at Lynx Electric City in China. International availability or pricing is not yet detailed.
What do you think about this device? Is it interesting, or is just another device that will disappear into the mist of obscurity? Is it a worthy competitor to the pink Mi Note that Xiaomi released recently?
Hope they put Google Play on it as I managed to half install it on my Iuni U3 but then they did an OTA and wiped it out and I am still struggling to get it back..other than that its a great phone
Brian, download suame software. From there, install the custom CWM. There onwards, you can install all google play services on it. Mine is running fine with latest 3.0.4 sw version
