Yu’s next will be the Yuphoria

After an arguably successful maiden phone in the Yureka (review), India’s up and coming smartphone vendor Yu is ready to bring its second to the market.

After holding an online poll that asked users to choose between five probable names, Yu announced that its next phone — Project Caesar — will go by the name of Yu Yuphoria thanks to the number of votes the entry received. According to reports, more than 1,00,000 people participated in the poll to give the next Yu phone a name. Besides Yuphoria,Β people could vote for the following names – Yuknight, Yunicorn, Yunity and Yuth.

Gizchina News of the week

The Yuphoria will also reportedly cost a little more than the existing Yureka, and is expected to be unveiled in the coming few weeks. If you aren’t aware, Yu is a sub-brand of India’s largest homegrown smartphone vendor, i.e., Micromax, and currently has only one phone, i.e., the Yureka, in its repertoire. The phone comes with a 64-bit octa-core processor from Qualcomm, has 2GB of RAM and is powered by the now-popular Cyanogen OS.

Coming back to the Yuphoria, the device is also expected to run Android 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box. What are your expectations from the Yuphoria? Let us know in the comments section below.

Yuphoria and Yureka are nice names, but if they make a phone that’s actually Yunique and not just a rebranded Coolpad device, that would be nice.

actually, the rebranded Coolpad was very very appreciated, if they rebrand another good one… why not?

That does make sense Airyl, but if you ask me, only up to a certain level. Investing in R&D isn’t the call of the hour for India vendors; rebranded phones with topped up software is sort of a win-win. Agree?

The least they can do is put ASOP freshness in the devices and not the horrible bloatware their CEO decides..

@yash3339:disqus , any idea if these will EVER be sold across the border?

        • April 9, 2015

I know as much as you do… there certainly seems to be a market but it perhaps isn’t as big as you and me think.

@Airyl do you think people really care about how it’s rebranded and stuff , it’s only about the performance that the people are bothered about. Many companies rebrand sky worth devices and who even bothers really!! And to the fact that Yureka is one of the best phones in the budget of 8999/- and with awesome features.

The best phone one can buy in Rs.5,000-Rs.10,000 segment. I strongly recommend this product to all who want to grab a hand on new mobiles, also it comes with a Cynogen OS and that too at an affordable price. Currently me along with some of my friends are using it and from past two months we haven’t got any problem issues. Also door step service repair/replacement adds to satisfaction
