Asus isn’t best known for its smartphones, but the Zenfone 2 series has certainly swept people off their feet.
The Zenfone 2 series is among the first ones to offer 4GB of RAM on board. Entry-level household and office computers come with that much RAM… in fact, I’m writing this article from a 4GB RAM laptop PC! That is how much mobile tech has evolved in the past couple of years.
Specifications of the Zenfone 2 include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2/4GB RAM, 16/32GB on-board ROM, 13 mega-pixel/5 mega-pixel cameras, and 3000mAh batteries. The Zenfone series is all Intel powered, so there’s bound to be a difference in single-core performance thanks to the architecture on which Intel CPUs are built. While the 2GB RAM version comes with the Intel Atom Z3560, the 4GB version features the Intel Atom Z3580.
The Zenfone 2 series is now on sale for $290 for the 2GB RAM version, and $367 for the 4GB RAM version on GearBest… interested buyers can also use coupon code ‘ASUSZ2’ to get the prices down to $252 and $338.
It appears as of now that the 2GB RAM version is on pre-sale, with orders scheduled to ship in 10 days from now. Anyway, do let us know if you jump the gun on any of these models, and why!
Should you not put some kind of warning about it running x86. Like many programs optimized for ARM architecture wont work, or that it could use more battery life due to a higher wattage processor.
You only need 30 min for 60% so no problem with battery life.
OK, For this, i would like to buy a red one with 2GB. I was surprised at the coupon”ASUSZ2″ WITH $244.98. HAHAHAHH……
For the money this is the best now need some fixes from Asus the back camera has some focus issues but it’s only software problem and it will be fixed. For me I will wait because LeTV has great phones on the way and I’m waiting to see them running! looking premium and the camera is better with image stabilizer.
Does the “back, home, menu” touch buttons have backlights to light up? The 1st generation Zenfones are bad because you cannot see these buttons at night or in dim places.
I think they don’t but I’m not sure!
The LTE bands in this SKU are a bummer… Only FDD-LTE 1800/2100MHz
There’s 3 version with different LTE band support one in china&india one in Taiwan and one for international market
China and india one lack of FDD 2600 but with TDD band that others two lack of, Taiwan one also lacking FDD 2600, so if your going for a FDD 2600 ZF2 you gotta make sure you got the WW version which is available in Hong Kong and Australia? for now.
Yash or Andi, will you make an in depth review of Zenfone 2? I mean the slight hands on seems like it run really smooth. Please do some in depth review 😀
Hi Ivan – there’s an in depth review of the ASUS 4GB model here:
http://www.androidauthority.com/asus-zenfone-2-review-600414/
It is very far from being detailed. Where are some information on call quality, network coverage etc ?
…..try here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVYMtgmOUO4
We’ll keep you guys posted – let’s hope it does happen.
lol, 1949deal started to sell it at the lowest price, http://goo.gl/BG3vNv
Just read on android auth. that battery life is horrible (and non removable) and the camera isn’t up to IMX214 level. For a device that retails for $350+ that is not acceptable in my book. I dont want to go looking for an outlet halfway through the day. The cheaper versions are probably a better buy where performance is more in line with the price.
Bit bulky.
but the price of $ 367 for a processor z3560 ?????
Bummer about the mediocre camera (gsmarena review), hope the elephone p7000 is better
There is also an other model!? Because the larger model has the cpu model Z3580@2.3Ghz plus 4GB Ram
This model has the Z3560@1.8Ghz plus 4GB Ram. The Zenfone 2 finally has more that 2 models good trick Asus thanks!
