They’ve got the attention of many people but the wait has been too long. The P8000 that leaked sometimes ago is also an interesting device but going by how they’ve handled the release of the P7000, it may not launch until end of the year. As for the camera, honestly I’d rather wait for Andi’s word on that amongst other things

Lol… I get ur point but then the phone looks so good and thousands of people have been waiting for it’s debut. If I eventually buy one, I can’t help but think some people got it so cheap compared to what I’d pay for it after we all endured the torture of the waiting period together

Prices continue to fluctuate on mobile phones no matter when you buy it so there theoretically always be someone who paid less than you. Just buy the phone when you feel it is a great bargain and don’t worry what others paid, enjoy the fact that you got a good phone for a good price.

It’s kind of like flying, I never ask the person sitting next to me how much they paid for their tickets.

            April 17, 2015

I get ur logic but don’t forget in this case, whoever gets it for this price will also be part of the first set of owners of the phone. Not that I’m worried but being an early owner of a (seemingly) great phone for the lowest is enough to make other people go green with envy lol

              April 17, 2015

Personally I prefer to get a phone 3-4 months after it releases for a few reasons. The most important being by that time enough people have used it and discovered any long term issues with the hardware or bugs in the software that reviewers don’t notice because of their short time with the device. Secondly by that time many phones are readily available in the market and you can find better deals. Finally most phones I dont use whatever the UI it comes shipped with, by the 3 month mark there is usually a decent selection (depending on brand) of ROM’s available.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Excellent deal for those lucky enough but I can imagine those fishing behind the net will be pissed. Now I know that it can be had for 159 I will be less likely to pay the full price version even if I don’t succeed getting one for 159. I wonder if this is going to backfire for elephone.

    • balcobomber25
      April 15, 2015

It also could have the opposite effect of what you mention. It could drive demand up for the phone so much that those who don’t get it for $159 will be willing to pay a little more for it.

At the end of the day though if they deliver with a truly remarkable phone (as the specs would indicate) for under $200 it will sell no matter what the price.

GPU 16cores? Yea right… good joke… Fake and lie

    • David Košič
      April 15, 2015

Actually it isn’t since the mali-760 can have up to 16 cores, however they are using the MP2 version which only means two cores. They aren’t saying that their phone has 16 cores but they are saying that the mali-760 has 16 cores.

      • LastoftheBrunnen_G
        April 15, 2015

ALU’s are shader units not cores, you’re right they can count as cores when they add a complete cluster for example: 760MP40->760MP8.

        Each cluster has 8 ALU/shaders so 760MP2 = 16 ALUs, not cores.

          April 16, 2015

I didn’t find anything homophobic about his post at all. Are we not allowed to mention the word “gay”? If someone has the word “gay” in their username calling them “gay” isn’t being ignorant at all. Just like if I refer to you as Bruno.

          • Muhammad Yasir
            April 16, 2015

actually , as i have mentioned several times already , i never used the word to ridicule anyone’s orientation by any means. I was just trying to joke a bit through using the other sense of the word , they commonly use at high school level. the fact that his name contained the word would have made it even funnier..
but i think Duarte failed to see that.

            • Duarte Bruno
              April 17, 2015

              I did fail actually.
Your post did look to me like high school bullying and nothing else. You have cleared so I guess the issue is over.

BTW, long ago (20+ years) a high school colleague trying to act smart when he slacked on his English homework (which was supposed to be a self portrait) walked to the chalkboard and just wrote this:
              “I think I’m a nice gay.”
He was the laughing stock of the class for quite a while, even though he realised and corrected his typo in less than 5 seconds. Too little too late.

I wouldn’t be surprised if PolishGUY was making the same mistake.

      The T760 is 16 cores…..

      • LastoftheBrunnen_G
        April 15, 2015

They are doing fuzzy math by counting ALU’s as cores. If that’s the case my Radeon 7950 has 1792 cores and my GTX 960 has 1024 cores.

        • balcobomber25
          April 16, 2015

They are counting shader cores, the Mali 760 can scale up to 16 shader cores. They may not be true “cores” but that is the terminology that ARM uses for them and it has become industry standard to refer to the Mali 760 as a 16 core GPU.

wait , you think i ACTUALLY insulted his orientation ?!
HELL NO! i was actually trying to joke through his username , like they do in schools e.g “ur so gay for this/that”

in fact read @disqus_Ey3pzBvAwu:disqus ‘s reply and see how we actually handle humor here !

They are doing fuzzy math by counting ALU’s as cores. If that’s the case my Radeon 7950 has 1792 cores and my GTX 960 has 1024 cores.

I didn’t find anything homophobic about his post at all. Are we not allowed to mention the word “gay”? If someone has the word “gay” in their username calling them “gay” isn’t being ignorant at all. Just like if I refer to you as Bruno.

    • Guest
      April 16, 2015

actually , as i have mentioned several times already , i never used the word to ridicule anyone’s orientation by any means. I was just trying to joke a bit through using the other sense of the word , they commonly use at high school level. the fact that his name contained the word would have made it even funnier..
but i think Duarte failed to see that.

People who don’t know much about technology won’t be misled by seeing something like “16 cores” as they won’t have any clue what the really means. I also don’t know too many consumers who purchase smartphones based off of GPU advertisements.

          • Miko
            April 17, 2015

You come to a site, and you see that image… 16 cores GPU super duper wow and next to this text is the advertised phone! What you will think?

              April 18, 2015

I decided to test this out, I showed that add to three different people. Two who had no clue about mobile GPU’s and one who did. The two who didn’t had no reaction either way to the add, they asked questions like “is 16 cores good or bad” and “how is the camera”. They could care less about the advertisement.

The one who knew about tech, said “they are stretching the truth on that one”. You are someone who obviously knows a thing or two about mobile gpu’s which is why it bothered you so much. But to the average consumer it is nothing more than advertising specs. Unless they know about the subject matter they will have no clue whether they are being misled or not.

Why its support so few LTE bands, the chip is the same as for many others that have more bands. Is it hard for manufactors to provide this? Is it only software related if the chip is the same?

LTE is provided by a modem(aka radio) in the phone. Usually a phone will only support the bands where it is most likely to be sold.

I must say thet Elehone is open about the production problems. PR-material now states that:

“Notice: Since IMX214 run out of stock and in order to meet the production
goal on time, some of P7000 uses IMX135 camera sensors”

One of the biggest differences is that:
    – the IMX135 has less options in HDR video.
    – IMX214 has somewhat more pixels (13.42MP vs 13.51MP)
    – IMX214 is built to be smaller (reduced height)
    – IMX214 can work with less power consumption
    – IMX214 has slightly different/better sensitivity

    About the HDR video:

    Full HDR video:
    IMX135: Not supported
    IMX214: 30 frame/s

    4K resolution
    IMX135: Not supported
    IMX214: 30 frame/s

    1080p resolution
    IMX135: 30 frame/s
    IMX214: 60 frame/s

So, the question is: which devices are being sold with the IMX135 and which ones with the IMX214 ?! Where to buy for a better camera? 😉

Just spotted that too and fired off an email to Andi.
Sounds pretty cert the ‘promotion’ devices will be missing the IMX214. Not worth the punt now in my opinion.

        Hi Steve I’m interested
in elephone p7000 but Dont won’t
the inferior imx 135 camera sensor, where and who is selling the imx214 elephone p7000. Thanks

Will need Elephone to come clean to know that I’m afraid. The P7000 is still in presale at normal price, so this ‘sale’ doesn’t make sense. My suspicion is standard presale might have IMX214, discounted presale probably not, but with nearly 30 days till they ship nobody can know for sure till too late. Perhaps the factory screwed up, hence the sudden sale, but for me now not worth the risk, shame.

I must say thet Elehone is open about the production problems. PR-material now states that:

    Dear customers:

ELE codes are not sent out yet, that’s why you didn’t get them in your emails. After you made the reservation for limited flash sale, you’re qualified for the event on 11 May. The reservation is only for the qualification. People who didn’t make reservation aren’t able to snatch P7000 on 11 May. On the day, input your email and choose the online shop you chose, you might get the ELE code( 159.99 USD coupon code). If you snatch earlier, you have more chances to get one code.

I have the phone came today and god the hardware is sturdy not filmsy. Looks expensive. The phone back clicks on and they designed it like one integrated piece so when you close it , it’s going to be hard to remove. Came with glass to lay over the screen and the glass is clear no distortion. Solid and slightly weighty because of the enormous battery. Looks like an iPhone and I hate iPhone but I enjoy this design. The is more sturdy solid than the filmsy Samsung phones. I don’t know if a guy wants to put it in his pocket but I am a gal so I put it in my backpack. I don’t mind it in my purse. I ran Dead Trigger and a bunch of other games, it played smoothly. 20 apps battery consuming open at once did not crash or lag, very fast phone. You can really feel the 3 go of ram Sound is okay slightly tin-like and high but I use earphones so it’s better. High volume on this device sounds like turning your Galaxy Note to 75 percent. I also wish the blacks on this device were deep black but I do design so I am picky about my displays. Battery life is slightly above average and the huge battery takes a while to charge , I will root this and see what I can do. Camera is clear and the camera with perfect use of light can take pretty good photos. This is coming from a photograher, you can any camera look crappy if you don’t use the correct lighting.

Overall, it looks good. It’s built sturdier than all of Samsung and the glass screen is awesome and better than my LG G3. Design has no unfinished edges. If you are getting this for a friend who has no idea about phones they won’t be able to tell the difference. Looks high end.

    Charging Time: 7/10 (big battery)
    Camera: 9/10
    Design 10/10
    Sturdiness: 11/10
    Speed : 10/10
    Performance wise 9.5 /10
Display 8.7/10 (blacks should be pitch black, I will try to calibrate my screen once I root it).
