The Cubot X10 is another break from the norm when it comes to rugged phones, this time offering an elegant waterproof design.
Although Cubot haven’t been as visible in the media a other brands this year, the company are making changes to their range that is having a good effect on their overall brand image.
The X10 is a new phone from Cubot and from the design alone looks rather good, much better than any previous Cubot has. According to the blurb the X10 has an alloy frame and it looks like there is glass front and rear for a thickness of only 7.1mm.
Gizchina News of the week
Being a Unibody design, Cubot have managed to seal to the phone to make it waterproof. How waterproof we are not sure, but the marketing images show the phone under a running tap. We’re not sure how long it could remain water tight if it was totally submerged.
Pricing is around $160, which these days can bet you a 64bit LTE phone with 2GB RAM. The Cubot gets the RAM right but the SoC is just a MT6592M with no LTE support. Other details include dual SIM support, 5.5-inch HD display and 13 mega-pixel main camera.
shame they have not gone with a 64bit lte chipset, this could have been a nice phone 🙁
64 bit is still in its infantile stage, it will be at least another year (probably even longer) until it’s potential is fully realized. LTE on the other hand is a must these days for any phone costing more than $100.
How is LTE a must when data is so fucking expensive? unless you have a unlimited data plan LTE is nothing but a gimmick, and I doubt anyone with a $100 phone has a ulimited data plan, hell most carriers already removed their unlimited data plans and replaced them with 1GB/3GB monthly plans, watching a 1080p 10min video on youtube would cost me more than $50 under my current plan, most people need 2G/3G and thats more than enough for facebook, messenger, whatsapp, telegram, email clients, etc, why you want 40Mbps for services that work just fine with .2Mbps? why you need 40Mbps when you will never use said download speed unless you forget to turn on WiFi and you waste your monthly data in a hour on youtube.
Unless unlimited data plans make a come back LTE is nothing but a gimmick, like finger scanners and UHD screens.
Hi Xalis , I’ve a 25 € unlimited 4G internet plan (1000 minutes phone calls, 1000 text and unlimited internet) and I’ve ordered a 150 € phone, to be precise a Ulephone Be Pro and considering ordering a Elephone P7000 too. So why not?
Well… because i’m paying and you give me full option regardless if use it or need it.
If you don’t like it don’t use it,i want to see Real Madrid winning the UCL on the fcking beach
Really depends where you live. In Thailand I get 10GB’s of LTE data for about $30 a month. My bill is never more than $50.
