Xiaomi may have wrapped it’s downgraded Xiaomi Mi4i in plastic similar to the iPhone 5c to keep it’s retail cost down.
Earlier today we reported that the Xiaomi Mi4i tipped for released in India could cost as little as $161. Part of the cost cutting will come in the form or a Snapdragon 615 rather than 801 chipset, but much of it could be due to a plastic construction.
Gizchina News of the week
The Xiaomi Mi4 represented the first phone from Xiaomi to focus on build quality with glass front and alloy chassis. These details might not be present on the new phone and instead have a polycarbonate material with dual SIM tray.
Other details include a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB RAM, 16GB memory, 13 mega-pixel main camera and 5 mega-pixel front.
Xiaomi are expected to show off the Mi4i on April 23rd.
I have expected that. Now the Mi4i will basically compete with Meizu Note M1 and Jiayu S3 that has faster MT6752 chipset and already is on the market for months.
The meizu note M1 and the jiayu S3 are both over 5″ though so I wouldnt say they are direct competitors.
Meizu phones are shit. I sell them and many many of the buyers return with problems, both hardware and software, especially mx4 pro but mx4 and m1 note as well.
That’s your experience. My experience is great with the M1 Note, nothing wrong with it.
I’ve seen two M1’s and a Mx4 around the office and both are very nice and they (my colleagues) said they haven’t had any problems with them, either.
But I have to admit while I like the aesthetics of Meizu phones, the Flyme skin is a bit of a turn off. If they had something closer to vanilla android I’d probably be using a Meizu right now.
Flyme isn’t for everyone just like vanilla Android isn’t for everyone. But there are no software problems with it, it is just aesthetics people don’t like. Kind of like MIUI. I would take MIUI or Flyme over stock Android any day, because I love the way they look and perform. Stock Android to me is exactly the word you used, Vanilla. It is too plain and boring for me, it takes me nearly 3 hours to get Nova Launcher to look and act the way I like Android too, which is similar to both MIUI and Flyme.

I am a proud Mi4 owner and Xiaomi fanboy but I have always been a fan of Meizu.
Everyone I know who has the Mx4 (which is probably about a dozen friends/colleagues) says it is one of the best phones they ever had. I haven’t heard a single one of them complain about any hardware problems. And I have personally used Flyme and don’t know of any issues with it. You sure you sell real Meizu’s??
