Xiaomi’s plastic bodied Mi4i will be available in the first round of flash sales today held on Flipkart in India.
The launch of the Xiaomi Mi4i was just last week, and marked the first time that the Chinese phone maker had ever launched a phone outside of it’s homeland. Keeping with that theme the Mi4i will go on sale today in India via Flipkart ahead of other Xiaomi global locations.
Gizchina News of the week
The Xiaomi Mi4i will be available from 2pm IST for customers who already registered to buy the phone, but only in limited numbers. The Mi4i packs a 2nd generation Snapdragon 615, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel main camera, a and 5-inch FHD display for INR 12,999.

Initial reports from multiple sources are they sold 40,000 units in 15 seconds flat. Guess the lack of an SD card wasn’t the huge problem many said it would be.
Got one for a friend. Expected delivery on 8th May. If Yash doesn’t get to review one, I will try fiddling with it and share feedback.
Personally, I didn’t go for it coz I needed more space. My S2 doubles up as a storage device; have lost many USB drives and internet speed is pathetic so cloud is a bad idea in India. 🙁
We’re promised a unit soon, hope it doesn’t take too long. Meanwhile, do share your experiences with the phone when you do get a hold of it.
Those numbers could have been higher if they just decided to launch every color they showed during the live event.
Hugo says of course there will be black, but fails to mention when. 🙁
I usually defend Xiaomi but I never understand their decisions with optional colors. Judging by the past it will be about 4-6 months before you see anything other than white.
If you remember the people who have purchased Xiaomi Redmi Note, they later gave them Micro sim Adaptor, Since when we say “black phone” the only change is the back cover, would it not make sense that Xiaomi offers the back covers of their choice (1-2 Free). This might actually make more common sense than selling black phone, Red phone etc just give people the option to get free back cover of their choice, matter solved. Its not as if the phone is entirely different colour (and I mean the front too)
An easy solution, is using common sense, why complicate the matters?
Most people in India when they buy a phone want to have screen guard and back cover or some sort of protective cover.
