Yu Yuphoria will come 12th May

Micromax subsidiary Yu has announced that its ongoing project ‘Caesar’ will be showcased to the world on 12th of May in the form of the second Yu phone — the Yu Yuphoria.

If you aren’t aware, Micromax spun off a sub brand a few months back in the form of Yu, the first phone of which happens to be the Yu Yureka which we quite liked. The Yureka is a $150 (9,000 INR) phone that does a lot of stuff for the money; for starters, it comes with Cyanogen OS preinstalled, a feat only one phone apart from the Yureka has achieved.

There’s no word on price of the next-in-line aka the Yu Yuphoria, but rumour has it that the phone will have a Snapdragon 410 SoC at its core along with 2GB of RAM. If that does happen, we’d again be looking at a rather mildly powered phone which would be aimed at the masses with respect to the price tag.

What are your expectations with regards to the specifications on the Yu Yuphoria?

If the Roumour are true it will compete with Lenovo A6000 plus and Redmi 2. But it would be great if anything comes out wich can compete with Mi4i.

If its a Snapdragon 410 processor it is too little too late, If you seen Xiaomi Redmi 2 did not sell very fast as expected. There are different segments, the lower segments already have a lot of competition with Xiaomi Redmi 2S, Moto E This is price sensitive segment and already there are lot of phones available It is the middle (10-15k) and (15-20K) that is very much the segment that moves right now. This is the biggest segment where the people are expecting flagship type specs at competetive prices and that is where Xiaomi MI3 first made a dent and made market for Xiaomi in India, and now Xiaomi MI4i is focusing on the same area.
Not many people who want sub 6K phone are willing to wait on the internet and buy it. They prefer to go to the stores and buy it. Because they want to see the phone work and know it works for them after all if they invest their money in phone it should be worthwhile, where as the 10-15 K is segment where people can buy about 2-4 phones a year because they can afford to and eager to get Flagship type specs at competetive prices.. this is where xiaomi MI4 lost the plot in India
