Is this finally the real JiaYu S4?

jiayu s4 specifications

The sub 5-inch JiaYu S4 flagship rears its head once again with claimed specification details along with purported image.

JiaYu current offer the JiaYu S3 as their flagship device, but at 5.5-inch there are some phone users who are holding off a purchase until something smaller is made available, something like the JiaYu S4.

The JiaYu S4 has been seen in numerous rumours for months now, yet we are still no closer to knowing when JiaYu will finally released the phone. So far all rumours point at a phone with a 4.7-inch display, and todays new details reveal a little more of the specification.

Apparently the display will be a 5-inch 720p panel powered by the same 64bit Mediatek MT6752 chipset found inside the JiaYu S3. 2-3GB RAM will come as standard as will Android 5.0 Lollipop while cameras are an 8 mega-pixel front and 13 mega-pixel Sony IMX214 rear, as long as Sony’s shortages are fixed.

The specs, posted on the JiaYu Forums, even tell us the weight of the phone, 140g and the dimensions 130 x 64 x 8.3mm which is just enough room for a 64GB SD card and 2500mAh battery.

In addition to the specs a real image of the JiaYu S4 has been posted showing a stainless steel inner structure, removable battery and dual SIM card slots.

So is this finally the genuine JiaYu S4? And if so when will we finally see the release of this smal screen flagship?

I heard lot of people here asking for a phone like this one. It’s going to be a best seller.

You are right. I am one of them. But it’s gonna be a best seller for the first company who will produce such a phone, not for Jiayu! First rumors about this dates from november 2014. So all we have are renders and rumours.

I say… I agree with Kenny and want one too..I do not like the iPhone although I own two of them but I am looking as I said on another post at Sony Xperia Z3 compact, now I am even considering LG G4C if it will have some nice specifications. I do not like Redmi 2 too much although I really enjoy using MIUI.One killer feature for me from MIUI is that I can record phone calls of both parties on the line without putting the phone on speaker or installing additional apps. I do not know any other rom that can do that.

Miui has been ported almost on any phone. If you don’t like Xiaomi phones then you can just simply put Miui in whatever phone you’ll buy.

Looks a lot like Jiayu G5. The inside is identical. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

If the phone gets really this camera and will have functioning GPS (saying as the owner of the G5), then I think it will be a success. If the price tag is reasonable and no additional bugs appear.

If the picture looks exactly like a G5 then it probably is a picture of a G5 like so many other rumors about this phone. It’s all smoke mirrors and no substance if this phone is released with the specs announced it will be a big hit but I got fed up of waiting for it to arrive and ordered an elephone p7000 instead.

      • Vlada
        May 5, 2015

I don’t trust Elephone. They have published false specifications so many times that I won’t risk it.

But what I wanted to say is that the phone on the picture is definitely not G5S. I own the phone and the back cover is not completely removable. But of course that is not a proof that the phone is not a fake.

I own a P3000S from Elephone, and the performance is OK. It’s more that I cannot get used to this size after a few weeks of ownership and I have doubts about the building quality too. If this S4 would actually sell around the same price and with these given Alves, I would seriously consider buying one.

There is no way in hell this is true. It implies a 83% screen to body ratio. Sharp who by the way have some of the smallest phones on the (japanese) market can’t muster more than 80% and we talk here about a giant who source their *own* displays in such a way so that they can be fitted in such minimal bodies.

A relatively unknown Jiayu can’t do that even if they wanted. If they really do that let me say that they have maybe the most talented engineers on the market (i doubt it no hard feelings).

No, what we should expect is a 5 incher (sadly) with smallish bezels and total dimensions (roughly) of 140×68. Xiaomi Mi4 like, which is certainly not compact phone. Not a giant of course either.

i say that because jiayu inevitably has to follow the stream. This year no sub 5 inch phone has been announched apart from the lowest of low end ones. Compact phones have gone the way of the dodo and sadly they seem that they will stay that way. G4 and G5 are 2013 designs so not even jiayu has recent compact designs for mid-high end phones. Don’t expect this to be it, sadly.

I was waiting for it for months as well, but all i saw was fake slides and i grew weary, i suspected that s4 won’t be a compact and finally something that seems like a true inside information (5 inch screen) killed the last of my hopes. Xiaomi Mi4 retains the crown of the best smallish phone for one more year it seems :/ …

This mirage phone supposed to be 4.7″, not 5″. Even so, i agree with you. Small chances for us to see a good compact and affordable phone in the future. The markets that counts want big bad phablets. I would say that Mi4i is our best chance; but in europe you will have to be prepared to spend $250 after the reseller will get their hands on it.

I am really tempted by the Black Xiaomi MI4 2GB RAM version, should I go for it considering the fact that MIUI is consuming a lot of RAM? I am not a fan of the white version.
