Kingzone have today announced that they are working on a “mystery” new product named the Kingzone K2 to follow up the amazingly popular Kingzone K1.
Kingzone had great success last year with the Kingzone K1 and want to emulate that success with a new device. At this time the company have only confirmed the name of the device but have left a few teasers as to what possible features the phone might boast.
On their official website, Kingzone say the new phone will be named the Kingzone K2 and that it might have all or some of the following hardware features:
- flexible display
- wearable
- eye identification
- super slim metal body
- voice control
- NFC
- fingerprint sensor
Looking at the information in the post and taking a glimpse at current Chinese flagship phones we can guess the Kingzone K2 will feature the following specifications:
- 2.5D display
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Retina ID running from the front camera
- Lollipop (for the retina recognition updates)
- Metal body
- NFC
- Touch ID style fingerprint sensor
Kingzone state that their company are getting bigger and they have high expectations. The Kingzone K2 should be announced fairly soon.
At last! I really liked my K1 turbo, but was unimpressed by the specifications of the Z1, and disappointed by the apparent misleading description of it (according to some forum posts). Although the design was very nice, and refreshingly distinctive for a Chinese brand.
I’ll be looking forward to seeing this new phone, though I doubt it will have all the goodies they’re teasing us with.
yes, same for me. Loves the K1 Turbo, but the Z1 was not an okay device for me
Well it has been over a year.. I’m just wondering why Giz used the Z1 as a reference, when this article is about the K1 and K2. .-.
Maybe if this has the build quality and stable ROM of the K1 I would definitely consider it as that was my favorite phone (apart from the poor camera).
Poor camera, what are you expecting an SLR?, but yea I have to agree with you on the K1 part. : P
Hopefully it has the same quality/performance of the K1 which was excellent and doesn’t follow in the N3 or Z1 which by comparison were average at best.
Indeed I’ve not been that impressed with the Z1, GPS being it’s biggest real world issue.
GPS is something that has plagued MTK phones for some time, it seems with the newest chips the problems have been mostly resolved.
Given how amazing the K1 was, I had really high hopes for the N3 and Z1 but was let down by both. They were horrible phones but they just didn’t live up to the K1.
I hope the phone is phenomenal. I hope it matches the quality that the K1 had and isn’t like the follow ups the N3, N3+ and Z1. Those were all good phones on their own but compared to the K1 they weren’t even close. It is still an excellent phone even in 2015:
wireless charging (something many flagships don’t offer)
14 mp F2.2 camera (very good)
Metal body/excellent build quality
6.8mm thick
2GB RAM
5.5” FHD
NFC
I used it for about 4 months and it was a great phone. I used it as my work phone and the only reason I had to give it up is because I couldn’t get an App I need for work to run on it. No matter what I tried it just wouldn’t work. So now I use an iOcean X8 as my work phone.
hmm.. sounds like K1 was quite the killa !
i hope kingzone learn from their misdoings and give us a REAL GOOD HELL of a product !
My last 4 or so phones have been Chinese brands, and while I’ve been lucky with all of them, the K1 Turbo is the first one I’ve bought that have wanted me to hold on until the next iteration before buying my next phone.
Build quality is a major reason. Metal body + not a scratch in the glass after more than a year sharing a pocket with my keys and/or coins..
Hi Richard; I bought the Kingzone Z1 and I have had precisely zero issues with it. As you say the GPS isn’t brilliant; I changed the datum on mine to the part of the planet where I live and it seems to have improved; but not as good as the GPS in my car.
I am looking for a second (travel) phone and my experience with the Kingzone Z1 certainly wouldn’t put me off buying the K2 – or indeed another Z1.
Hi Bruce, don’t get me wrong I don’t dislike the Z1, I’m just a bit disappointed. I do think its one of the better looking phones .
I test all phones before I sell them on , as mentioned the GPS issue is the biggest problems but the other iissuesI have is LTE reception (in the UK ) for example I will test with the same sim card between
2 or 3 different manufactures in the same location , the ulefon be pro I recently tested had full 4G in my office the Z1 doesn’t it randomly drops , I do this is different locations and the Z1 really has poor LTE reception in the UK .
As balcobomber25 say the k1 was a great phone and I expected the Z1 to be better it just falls short which h is a shame , I will still get a k2 to test before I decide .
Hi Richard; I can see your frustration(s) – I don’t have LTE where I live but I’d be disappointed if I experienced the issues you report. I suspect like quite a number of Chinese phone manufacturers, Kingzone have over hyped then under spec’d the Z1; over promised and under delivered and disappointed many…..hopefully they’ll get it right with the K2.
Take a look at Jiayu S3, complete spec including gorilla glass and without the fingerprint scanner, then add a killer camera and you have yourself your next ‘flagship killer’.
yeah… CHEAT the Ecoo design and say its a k2 , -_-
LAMEASS move kz !
aaannd im pretty sure they gonna price it a/c to satan’s policies !
Cheat the Ecoo design? How? In what way?! /_-
have u seen Ecoo E04 Aurora phone ? go take a look and then compare the visuals!
Okay, #1 The Z1 came out months before the Ecoo E04, December of 2014 to be exact, #2 that don’t even look much alike. /_-
Dude, ya just gotta chill mate. :/
