If the idea of a Xiaomi Mi4s, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 2 Pro and Xiaomi Mi5 sound good to you then check out this purported leaked Xiaomi roadmap.
We’ve seen leaked roadmaps in the past but we have never seen one from Xiaomi. Xiaomi are generally very secretive about their upcoming models, so with this in mind we ask you to rap a couple of pinches of salt before reading on.
According to the Xiaomi roadmap we can expect at least 4 new Xiaomi phone models this year.
First up will be an updated version of the current Xiaomi Mi4. Due in June 2015 the Xiaomi Mi4S will feature a 5-inch FHD display and 13 mega-pixel main camera just as the current Mi4 does, but with addition of OIS for the main camera. It looks as though the front camera of the Xiaomi Mi4S is a 4MP ultrapixel model and that the processor is a Qualcomm MSM8994 or more commonly known Snapdragon 810.
A month later in July 2015 we can expect to see two new Redmi models in the form of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro. The Redmi Note 2 will feature a 5.5-inch HD display, 13 mega-pixel main camera, 5 megapixel front and MSM8919 Snapdragon 410 chipset. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro will boast an increase in resolution to 1920 x 1080 and a more powerful Snapdragon 615 octacore chipset.
After those launches we will have to wait until November where it is rumoured the Xiaomi Mi5 will launch. Specifications for the Xiaomi Mi5 include a 5.2-inch 2K display, 20 mega-pixel main camera, 2 mega-pixel front and MSM8996 chipset rumoured to be the Snapdragon 820.
What do you make of these rumoured upcoming Xiaomi models? What other changes do you hope to see on the next Xiaomi models?
Probably I will go for the Redmi Note 2 Pro if the price will be reasonable.
I would be more happy with the MT6752. It is a little bit faster, but maybe the S615’s community support will be better.
Not releasing the Mi5 till November? I’m calling this BS especially given how closely guarded Xiaomi’s plans are. With the release of the Mi4i, there is no market for a Mi4s unless its the same model with the S meaning “Singapore” or something similar.
Actually the Mi5 would be the only good thing on this roadmap.
MSM8996 is the assumed model number for SD820 and launching something with it this year would be good ( it’s not clear if anyone will be able to have SD820 this year, Qualcomm will rush it but remains to be seen how fast they manage to deliver) . Ofc Xiaomi lost it’s way so there is no point in hoping for a good price anymore and they clearly lack the decency to include a microSD.
More of the Xiaomi lost it’s way posts, you never let up with that do you?
Various reports suggest Qualcomm won’t release the 820 till the end of the year/beginning of next year. They are fully committed to the 810 right now.
Even if he gets one for free he is still going to talk shit due to lack of SD card slot.
And if Xiaomi makes one just for him with a SD card slot then he’ll complain about the design. I still have to figure out what kind of great super cheap phone he owns.
In so curious now.
if they actually release a mi4s in june with snapdragon 810 this is not that far fetched at all. Also the first part about Mi note and redmi 2A is already correct
I just can’t seem them releasing another Mi4 model, especially one with better specs than the original. If they were going to do that it would be the Mi5. The report should have both the Mi Note and Redmi 2A correct, they both were released months ago whereas this is the first time we are seeing this report. If this report was released last year and had those devices I might buy into it. But right now knowing how Xiaomi operates and how few leaks they have had over the years regarding their plans, I say this is BS.
Yeah it is very possible that it is BS, does seem like the 4S and 5 would be to close together but you never know.
I think it was November when they launched the MI4.
One flagship a year is reasonable, they are not Ulefone that comes out with a new phone every month.
That would be a terrible roadmap and would mean the Redmi Note would be badly priced. They wouldn’t have 2 versions if the Pro would be at 999CNY.
And btw the Huawei roadmap is more interesting, no clue why you are ignoring it. At this point they are more likely to have better prices than Xiaomi too.
Probably this will be the price of the base model and the Pro will be around 1250 CNY.
This would be the same price as Meizu m1 note and mini.
(I know that in theory the mini should be 699 and the note should be 999, but you can’t get it with this price)
Yep, the Huawei roadmap is interesting too. But I have no trust in HiSilicon SoC. (In regard of community ROM development)
Also Fujitsu SoC is interesting. I have never heard of it.
Also, the advantage of the Honor series is that it will be available in Europe and in some Asian countries for more or less the same price as in China (based on Honor 6 series), sold by official online retailers and 2 years warranty (in Europe).
I really hope Huawei has used the Kirin 940 chipset inside the Honor 7 series.
Around June/July or August if we believe this roadmap. The previous Honor 6 was also released in this time period I believe.
It depends which Asian country you live in, here in Thailand the Honor 6 was selling for almost $200 more than it was in China when it first launched. That is the norm for Thailand though.
In Europe, the honor 6 only costs around 299 euro (official launch price), so that is more or less the same as in China (In China the selling price was I believe 1999 yuan, so around 320 USD)
Just because you posted it later, it doesn’t mean that you didn’t ignored it at first. So own it.
Everything Xiaomi does is badly priced to you, unless it is offered for free of course.
