Watch the Mi 4i being tortured and tormented like never before!

Xiaomi’s clearly making quite a big deal out of the new Mi 4i smartphone that it announced last month.

Earlier today, another video of the device surfaced… but it wasn’t a run of the mill hands-on or anything. Rather, it is a video showing how well the Mi 4i is built.

The video, by YouTube channel aduGADGET lives up to every letter of its title ‘Xiaomi Mi 4i – Extreme Drop & Fire Tests’. To be honest, I’ve never really seen a video of this kind before. It goes to show how much the market has changed, and tilted towards the online model.

Nonetheless, take a look at the video here:

Previously, we saw company VP Hugo Barra tear down the Mi 4i to show its internals. In all, the Mi 4i is shaping to be quite a worthy budget phone… we have our review coming in the next few days.

Is it just me or does the fire look fake in that video? It does seem to be a durable phone either way.
Yash some other reviewers have mentioned overheating during intense gaming sessions, have you noticed any of this?

  The flame is real, trust me. I used to burn things with a spray can and a zippo. Interesting to see how the flame is triggering touches on the display.

LOL over in the US they’re drop testing iPhone6’s and S6 Edge’s on YouTube and this Indonesian group can only afford to drop test Xiaomi’s low to mid-range phones.
The shock factor just isn’t there; If it breaks, just buy another, no big deal.

  “If it breaks, just buy another, no big deal.” Except in many countries it is a big deal, especially countries like Indonesia where the minimum wage equates to about 50 US cents. Not to mention in many Asian countries there is no such thing is subsidizing of phones, you pay the entire cost up front.

        Yes but still, if you want to act like total ballers dropping $100 phones on YouTube like these dolts I’m going to come along and put you in your place.
        If it’s that big of a deal then Xiaomi themselves (who apparently sponsored this video) should have approached the idea with a bit more sensitivity like posting actual QA machine-aided drop test footage instead of giving not one, but two Mi4i’s to a group of Indonesians who are acting like they’re the sh*t doing these tests.
        The video on YouTube has got very few down votes so I’m guessing Indonesians themselves don’t see it as a big deal, either.

        The video was a little goofy but they don’t do them to act like “ballers”. They are showing people that if they do drop their phones it’s not going to smash in a million pieces. That is something people want to know before they invest their hard earned money on a phone. The only one who sees it as a big deal is someone who wants to see it that way. The rest of us see it as “Xiaomi made a durable phone”.

  Some of us have a limited budget. I couldn’t even afford to buy a phone anyware as near as expensive as this.
