Upcoming Xiaomi Redmi rumoured to have Helio X10 chip

A new Redmi model is said to be in the pipeline from Xiaomi and interestingly it could come with a powerful Mediatek Helio X10 chipet.

The rumoured model is currently named the Xiaomi H3Y and has shown up in leaks that show a metal version of the Redmi design with narrower bezels and those trademark red navigation buttons.

Full specification details haven’t been released in this leak, but what has been told is the phone will feature a FHD 1080p panel rather than a 720p HD screen. The phone is also set to receive a powerful Mediatek Helio X10 chipset running at 2.2Ghz with 2GB RAM.

Camera specifications have also been revealed with Omnivision taking up the front with a 5 mega-pixel shooter and a 13 mega-pixel Samsung Isocell sensor taking shots from the rear.

Pricing is expected to be low, but not as low as we have seen with the current plastic bodied Xiaomi Redmi phones. Expect a launch later in the year.

Damn it, I was planning to buy the Black Xiaomi MI4 16GB 3GB RAM WCDMA version and now this article came out. If it is going to be a phone with a 5inch screen size then I should probably reconsider my initial choice and wait for the new Redmi. I mean at the same time I will save some money. Crucial choice…cos I really need a new phone.

    True, I checked the information on upleaks and like you said this new Redmi device will have a 5.5″ screen. That being said, should I go for the Black MI4 16gb Wcdma version? I am asking this cos I have read some comments mentioning a paint peeling issue on the metal frame? I really prefer the black color comparing the white version. I was also tempted by the THL 2015 but I have a concern regarding regular software updates from THL or community. Thanks in advance!

      I forgot the MI 4i is also tempting me but it is really hard to buy one at the moment and prices are pretty close to the actual price of the MI4 ($299).

        I own the white version of MI4, I’ve been waiting forever for the black one but at the end I couldn’t wait anymore.
        I confirm that the black version has the paint peeling issue.
        MI4i is a nice phone but I would not pay more than 250$ (reseller price), for 299$ I would go for the regular MI4 anytime.
